Default Super Optimized Curcumin (Longvida Curcumin)

A friend in Brazil, Luiz R. Pinheiro, is unable to post, and has asked me to post this information for him. It concerns a super bio available form of curcumin,

Luiz says
"Please go to:

http://addiandcassi.com

On your very right side there´s a colum called PRODUCTS WE LIKE. Look for Curcumin and click on it.
This gives the website,
http://addiandcassi.com/year/the-rea...-brain-disease

In the article there´s a graph showing how this new powerful curcumin crosses BBB. The product was created by UCLA and Verdure Sciences.

It can only be obtained direct from the lab."

You get a lot of information by a Google on "Longvida Curcumin"
It does not seem to be the conventional mix with piperine (bioperine) which improves bioavailability.
Luiz would like to give it to his 82 year old mother, but fears the Brazilian customs may cause problems unless he can persuade the suppliers to lablel it "herbal supplement" etc. Any suggestions welcome.

I did a search on the original papers by the people who did this research, and came up with

Default homemade bioavailability?

My reading of this indicates that for every 500mg of longvida, there are 200mg of curcumin, the other 300mg are lecithin and fatty acids....I did not know, as one place I read stated, that curcumin is not water soluble so must be ingested with a fat to be absorbed.

So why couldn't one just take their regular curcumin with some fish oil? Seems like that would be a lot cheaper (this stuff is sixty cents a pill according to one site I found and you need to take up to ten pills a day to get a dose of 1000mg of curcumin). Alternatively, sixty cents a pill is a lot less than some other PD meds, and no side effects. But still...

I don't have the link but longvida is being used by some for down syndrome and incredibly, those folks report some pretty impressive cognitive improvements in their loved ones who began taking longvida. You can google longvida and down's syndrome to find them.

Anyone think homemade would/wouldn't work?

Lightbulb

I think so.

The Curcugel I use claims 8x the absorption rate of plain curcumin.

I use it for my arthritis pain. It took a while to get going, but seems as good as my old reliance on SAMe.

I take it with my fish oil and liquid gel caps of Vit D.

Default Super curcumin

I already take 2 spoonfuls of fish oil together with a 1000mg curcumin tablet, in the morning. This is simply for convenience, taking all my daily supplements at once, but maybe there is a synergistic effect taking these 2 together.
For what it costs for 100 tablets, when they get a secure ordering system, I will try a month of the Longvida. I think they recommend only one per day, since you get more curcumin into the brain with these pills compared to curcumin. However, they don't seem to have a comparison with curcumin containing piperazine.
