That is amazing! Our neighbors just went down there for their winter!

I guess "the sky is falling" is going to be true for you!

Our snow has stopped at a nice level. Pretty without being too big a pain. I have 5 different feeders for my animal friends out my windows here in the little computer room. I just added a corn cob dispenser a friend gave me, to the suet holder, and little stick in the ground resin sun flower that holds small amounts of seeds for the poor junckos. (these birds won't go to most feeders and are very shy--and I worry about them). We found this flower sculpture/feeder at a stone yard on clearance this fall. It was a lucky find. I have a pole with a flat bed on one hook and a massive stainless steel feeder cage I bought on Ebay made by a retired gentleman. So far it has foiled the squirrels.

The weather does seem very cold everywhere in the US. Take a look at Weather.com and see all the violet/lavender areas of the country...more than 1/2 is suffering this way today! We are predicted really cold tomorrow...I can hardly wait! NOT.

Well I still have my snow shovel that we brought down from Upstate New York. I live on the other side of Florida and too close to Gulf so looks like we may not see any white stuff.

It needs to hurry up and warm up some, I am having fishing withdrawls

It would be funny if not for all the poor orange trees and little lizzards freezing.

You might as well be in Vermont! And we don't have iguanas falling out of our trees...

one of my friends is rescuing lizards by taking them into the warm house...they are deathlike when she finds them but recover well in the inside cage. she will release them when the cold stuff is over, tho it seems it is going to last well into next week and still be below normal going forward

we have seen strawberries almost triple in price here since last weekend
and yes, the citrus farmers as well as the many fern/orchid etc nurseries are really worried

the stream out back of my house had a thin layer of ice yesterday morning after an overnight frosty 24 deg!! and all the water birds that usually fill it at this time of year are nowhere to be seen.

I am really concerned for the many homeless people in Florida too. some have gone to shelters but what of the many who live out in the rural woods.

many of the homes and schools etc here dont have heating either...we dont really ever need it beyond for maybe one or two cool nights a year usually

some people dont even own a coat...thankfully Floridians have been turning out in droves to the donation points with blankets and warm clothing, especially for the many school kids and elderly folk who need them

Shocked

OMG.... that is just awful! I am just amazed at this winter!

The manatees are having trouble too, according to CNN!

A lizard rescue! amazing.

I sure hope large retailers step up to the plate, like WalMart(that current thread here) and donate unsold clothing for his cold snap.

I send a thank you "upstairs" every night that our pipes don't freeze and our ancient furnace keeps plugging along!

BTW I can't find another Snuggli blanket for myself, since Tippy appropriated mine. Tomorrow I will try Bed Bath n Beyond.

OMG.... turtle rescue.... what will be next.... gators?

Some turtles do sleep in northern climes during cold weather.
But they know to burrow under mud to do so. Floridian turtles may not have this ability?
