Default Phone question for my techie friends...

I have several extensions in my house, for safety and convenience purposes. I think a total of 8. Four are corded, four are not.

My old cordless croaked (I eat phones for breakfast) so I bought a new one with two handsets. This was maybe three weeks ago. Yay! It worked great!!

This morning I didn't have any dial tone. I went around and unplugged everybody, then started plugging them back in. Lo and behold, the culprit is my new one that was working fine.

Any ideas? Is it the jack? The phone itself? Too many phones? Why did it work fine for three weeks then suddenly shut down my system? Why do phones hate me?

Thank you for your input...and patience...

Did you fully charge the battery? That's all I can think of since your other ones are working.

Hi

In my day I would have said the problem was probably a short in the cord or a temporary line problem caused the problem.

When I have a problem today I suspect the phone was made in China. Kitty has a good suggestion check the battery.

Thank you Kitty, Bob, and Dr. Freud.

I'm thinking I'll bring another phone in there and hook it to the same phone line, that should tell me if it's the phone itself. Just can't figure why it worked up until now. Maybe I'll flip it upside down and see where it was made...

I found the problem with the phone!!! It was a loose nut! (No, not IN the phone; USING the phone) The power supply was slightly loose from the phone, but it looked connected. At least I THINK that was the problem. It's working now. I still don't know why there was no dial tone on any of the other phones. Let's just say MAYBE I solved the problem. I can't be trusted with complicated equipment.
