Default New Mexico???

We hear it's good weather, not too hot, not too cold. And they have medical MJ. Midwest winters suck!

Anyone live here? Good, bad, ugly? We are thinking Albuquerque? Jim has a cousin who lives there but we haven't called them yet.

You can probably find some good info on their Chamber's website.

http://www.newmexico.org/

It sounds heavenly!

We have friends who moved to Albuquerque in the early 90's when he was in the Air Force. They stayed and retired there. A good source for researching any city in the US is citydata dot com. the direct link to New Mexico forum page is http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-mexico/ . Once there the 3 cities have their own pages.

What's the weather there like today? Upper 50's, 21% humidity. Nuff said. Pack up your stuff and head out west.

Isn't that another one of those, buggy crittery, snakey type states?

Ok, so out of all the people on here there are no more responses? I did check city-data, one of my favorite sites as well as the chamber of commerce. But I want to hear from people who actually live or have lived there or know someone who lives there.

There has to be more, right? LOL

Sally, I don't know about the critters. That is something I'll have to know about. LOL

My friend lived there for a couple of years (came back north for part of the summer) She loved it, wept tears when she had to give up her apartment there. She still says "Albuquerque" in kind of a soft, reverent tone...

Thank you, that's good to know. It's a little scary for Jim and I because we would be leaving behind all of our friends and family to move there alone, just the two of us. On the other hand, it's exciting to think about it you know? We've lived in the midwest most of our lives.

The boys do not know where they are going to plant roots yet so we still have some thinking to do. I really feel like Jim would benefit from the weather being nice and dry. Plus they have a good VA system in place. Did I mention the weather? 50's right now.

My wife and I moved to Belen, NM about 6 months ago from Denver. Belen is about 35 miles south of Albuquerque. So far both the wife and I are happy with the move. The weather has been great. We have had just dustings of snow...no snow shoveling. The VA hospital in ABQ is nice. University of New Mexico has a great teaching hospital.

I'm not sure what your looking for in a home but there are some very nice suburb neighborhoods. Rio Rancho is the planned community. Very clean but cookie cutter homes. Head south out of ABQ and Bosque Farms offers a rural feel but close to Albuquerque. Go a bit farther south and you get Los Lunas. Smaller town that seems quiet. A bit farther is Belen.

We moved to Belen because of the ability to get an acre lot out of the city. The commute to ABQ is not bad. Traffic is much lighter here than Denver.

Wide open spaces. That is what we love about NM. Along with the weather.
