Politics We're getting a $250 rebate?

Today, in the New York Daily News, it gives a whole explanation about *the* new health plan. It indicates what will happen THIS year, and in the years to follow.

For 2010, it says "A $250 rebate for seniors and this includes anyone on medicare) to cover the gap in the donut hole.

Now am I to understand that we will be getting a check in the mail for $250 (for each of us?)

Is this the case.

Because it's really not that clear.

I don't know if this is what you were talking about but for some this is not good news.

Hi.
I just got the New York Daily News this morning. On Page 4, one of the paragraphs stated:

" PROVIDES A $250 MEDICARE PRESCRIPTION DRUG REBATE FOR SENIORS".

This is all it said. No explanation, no nothing. Just that one sentence.

See why I'm confused? If anyone can get to the bottom of this, I'll be very grateful.

Thanks much.

you get 250 dollars if you have already spent enough on prescriptions to be in the donut hole, where you have to pay the full amount until catastrophic fits in. Its going to take 10 years for the donut hole to fill in under this bill.

It has to do with the "doughnut hole"

[ *Medicare drug beneficiaries who fall into the "doughnut hole" coverage gap will get a $250 rebate. The bill eventually closes that gap which currently begins after $2,700 is spent on drugs. Coverage starts again after $6,154 is spent.]

I have a friend who gets a shot that cost $7,000. That should cover it.

I believe the $250 they are now speaking of is the same $250 they gave out awhile back. I also got it with my backpay. If your backpay falls during the time this was issued you got it as well.
