frozen shoulder

I am waiting for ALJ hearing and have Allsup representing me.

Did you mean to say nephrology (which is the study of the diseases and functions of the kidneys) or neuropathy ? I can try to find the specific impairment listings if you could clarify whether it is a kidney or nerve problem






The impairment listing for DM says:

9.08 Diabetes mellitus. With:

A. Neuropathy demonstrated by significant and persistent disorganization of motor function in two extremities resulting in sustained disturbance of gross and dexterous movements, or gait and station (see 11.00C); or

B. Acidosis occurring at least on the average of once every 2 months documented by appropriate blood chemical tests (pH or pC02 or bicarbonate levels); or

C. Retinitis proliferans; evaluate the visual impairment under the criteria in 2.02, 2.03, or 2.04.


The specifics for how bad the retinopathy would have to be are :
2.02 Loss of visual acuity. Remaining vision in the better eye after best correction is 20/200 or less.

2.03 Contraction of the visual field in the better eye, with:

A. The widest diameter subtending an angle around the point of fixation no greater than 20 degrees;

OR

B. A mean deviation of –22 or worse, determined by automated static threshold perimetry as described in 2.00A6a (v);

OR

C. A visual field efficiency of 20 percent or less as determined by kinetic perimetry (see 2.00A7b).

I have periphereal neuropathy, kidney disease and early signs of retinopathy. I have had two emgs tests the second one indicates the neuropathy is worse.
I have been denied twice and awaiting a ALJ hearing. I am curious if anyone has been approved for these diseases.

Contact your state and national legislators -- they will contact SS. SS will be required to update them -- I think it is once a week -- in regards to your case.

I thought your kidneys might be bad enough -- but, stage 2 out of 5.........probably not.

yes you can be approved for peripheral neuropathy. If it affects your legs or feet it has to affect your gait and station or if your hands, your manual dexterity as per social security guidelines. I was approved for peripheral neuropathy.

11.14 Peripheral neuropathies. With disorganization of motor function as described in 11.04B, in spite of prescribed treatment.



11.04
B. Significant and persistent disorganization of motor function in two extremities, resulting in sustained disturbance of gross and dexterous movements, or gait and station (see 11.00C).

C. Persistent disorganization of motor function in the form of paresis or paralysis, tremor or other involuntary movements, ataxia and sensory disturbances (any or all of which may be due to cerebral, cerebellar, brain stem, spinal cord, or peripheral nerve dysfunction) which occur singly or in various combinations, frequently provides the sole or partial basis for decision in cases of neurological impairment. The assessment of impairment depends on the degree of interference with locomotion and/or interference with the use of fingers, hands and arms.

okay thanks...that is good news..what state do you live in? I live in KEntucky
I have hand tremors as well and gait issues. I am in the process of havingh a occupational evaluation to see exactly what my limits are.

Just received letter today.....FULLY FAVORABLE DECISION!!!!!!!!!!!! Boy I am so relieved.
I called Allsup to confirm what I was reading was correct still don't believe it. A ALJ hearing was requested but Judge decided no hearing needed and awarded fully favorable.

Applied in 1/09 disabled since 8/4/08. 45yr type 2 diabetic approved for diabetic neuropathy.

I can finally take a deep sigh of relieve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
