Pagliarini starts as governor's deputy chief of staff

PROVIDENCE – Gov. Donald L. Carcieri has named John R. Pagliarini his new deputy chief of staff, effective today. He replaces Clark Greene, who this week was to begin his new job as chief of staff for the R.I. Department of Elementary and Secondary.

Pagliarini brings a record of public service, most recently as state director/deputy chief os staff to Sen. Lincoln D. Chafee. He previously had served as communication director for Chafee when he was mayor of Warwick, and had worked for Gov. Edward DiPrete.

He also brings experience in the private sector, as director of government relations for UnitedHealthcare of New England. He is president of the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Society, Rhode Island Chapter.

A graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School, Pagliarini received a B.A. in political science from Fairfield University and a M.A. in public affairs from The George Washington University.
