Question Microsoft Office Word 2003 as email editor??? help?

Okay, here is what is happening. I use Verizon netmail. I send and receive using this email service.

For whatever reason, if I am at a website and they have an option to send an email to that particular website, and I click on it, I get a popup that says "Microsoft Outlook" and there's a "compose email screen", or I get Microsoft Word and there's a "compose email screen".

I want to click on an email address and have MY Verizon thing pop up. It's not doing that. So I gather that I have to do something to make Verizon my DEFAULT email thing?

Any idea how to do that?

What I have done so far is to go to Control Panel, the add and remove thing, but I can't find Outlook Express anywhere. I thought if I removed Outlook Express, that it would go away and I wouldn't see that pop up screen anymore.

any help is of course MOST appreciated.

Melody
P.S. If you need me to show you what the pop up screen looks like let me know. I HAVE A FLIP. lol

I think those pop ups only work if you have the Outlook, Outlook Express or Thunderbird set up for use on your computer.

I don't use Microsoft Word so I can't test that option, maybe someone will come along with info on using it for email.

If you use webmail {Verizon website or any website for email }, I don't think there is a way to get those pop up emails to work.

I think you would really like the Thunderbird email program - it is so much faster & more convenient that getting the email on the Verizon website.

The newest version it has an automatic set up helper - just type in your email address & it searches for the proper settings then asks you for the password.
And you can still go in and adjust specific settings if you want to - in the past setting up the incoming & outgoing info was where most had problems.

I don't want the pop up emails to work. I want them to NOT HAPPEN.

I have used thunderbird. I just like my Verizon.

So how do I get rid of Outlook Express off of my computer when I can't even find it when I go to Add/remove programs.?

Thanks much

Melody

In the Add/Remove did you click on the side bar ? Mine is set for classic style so you might have to look around for it if you have the default XP theme.

Look for -- Add/Remove Windows components
that area is where you can remove Outlook Express.

Well, now I am totally confused. I did what I told you I would do (in my pm). I clicked on the person's email address, the "Starting Microsoft Office Word 2003 as your email editor" came up on the screen and I immediately noticed there is nowhere to click on SEND. It's not an email program. It's a place to create an email and I gather, to copy and paste.

I am so confused I can't even tell you.

I shot a video of exactly what is happening on my screen. I don't want to put a complete strangers address up on the internet. I'm going to pm you.

I'm going to change your title - so anyone that uses or knows about the Microsoft email editor might see it and help out.

here's some links to check out while we wait for more replies.

Okay, I clicked on that link, I followed directions (I did a search for Outlook Express) but all kinds of folders came up. ????

How do I get to the Main Menu Microsoft Outlook Window.

I can take it from there.

At least I hope I can.

I thought it was MS Word popping up and wanting to be the email editor?

[I clicked on the person's email address, the "Starting Microsoft Office Word 2003 as your email editor" came up on the screen ]

found this if that is the case -
About using Word as your e-mail editor

Applies to: Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...850.aspx?CTT=1

Another confusing thing is Outlook Express is a separate program from Outlook. Gets confusing - it looks like Outlook is in with MS office now.
I haven't used any of those in ages and don't even have them installed.

I use the free OpenOffice program. similar to MS Word but not completely the same.
