I am seeing commercials for it with a price reduction to $75.00 today. Is is good? Does it work well. Will it spell medical terms?

I thought this program was very expensive at one time and had alot of quirks. So I don't know much about this current version.

Any comments appreciated!

There used to be a few posting that used it on the TOS forum.

I think a lot depends on doing the voice training, a good quality mic, proper mic positioning & a good quality sound card in your computer.

There might be some posts or threads about it in the past...maybe a forum wide search will turn up more info.

I have an old 1999 version of Via Voice and with a few rounds of speaking /training it does fine for me when I need to use it. With it you can train it to know any special words - med terms etc - I'm sure dragon is the same.
Via Voice is kind of a resource hog at times need at least 1.5 G of RAM or more to run it , AV prgm as well as any other things. Otherwise it bogs down the system.
but hopefully they streamlined the newer Dragon compared to the old Via Voice

I finally found the system requirements on that webpage...and 1 Gig of RAM is the min. suggested!

It would be nice to have, because some people keep coming on new here and refuse to read old posts and I end up saying the same stuff over and over. Once I train it with words I use, then maybe that could be better for me. I find I am typing worse and worse errors lately, like my fingers go faster than my brain, or something. It would be nice to just say what I want and let the fingers rest!

So I will think on it.

Our new laptop with Win 7 on it that hubby mostly uses, has more RAM. At least 2 and maybe 3. But I really hate using it... I just can't get used to the Win 7 things. My pictures ..for example is totally different and confusing... blech.

WOW... amazing! I'll have to check that out.

Figuring out how to use it will be tough though!

I just really dislike intensely that Win 7 laptop. Hubby found a tech article about how to speed it up, since it is really out of the box the slowest thing ever. It takes forever to log on and off, and switch users. It is always prompting you with stuff, groan.

There is some key on the keyboard when I type on it, that I must
brush against, that blows away my posts and email. Sometimes it goes back several screens! GRRRRRRrrrrrrrr!

And the My Pictures place is totally aggravating. groan. I have to watch my blood pressure you know!

But I'll ask "the kid" about this too when I call this weekend.

I have naturally speaking and after training it, it does great! if you find misspelled words, you can correct them in the dictionary, or add words. I am always impressed with how many it knows. it was worth the cost for me.

I did use Dragon Naturally Speaking-the Professional Version-for Doctor's etc. I was a sort of "tester" as the person who trained me worked in Intellectual Disability (I used to as well) and wanted to see if it would be suitable for Service Users.

I spent a lot of time training it to recognise my voice/words/commands etc but I found eventually that the problem was me! After a while eg 15/20 mins surfing the net my voice would get "tired" and the program wouldn't recognise words/commands etc. So, what to do? Train it to recognise my "tired" voice? I gave up using it because it got too frustrating to use.

Otherwise, I would recommend it-if unlike me you don't have the voice problem. You do need to get the best mike you can afford as the one that comes with it is not great. Just keep in mind the amount of time needed to train it and that you have a good knowledge of your operating system. Also, from recollection the one I had would just work on certain browser/s.
