Politics congress votes down payment to ss recipients

Congress just voted down a one time $250 payment to social security recipients. The payment was proposed because of the two years of 0% increases for social security recipients.

How much money has been spent on the Iraqi war and terrorism and it pales in comparison to the 14 billion needed to send 50 Million SS recipiants a 250 dollar check? One terrorist attack in the history of the USA( not including Oklahoma City) and this country can't figure out how to stop spending money on it. Amazing !!!

my post was not a political post i mentioned no political party. it was an informative statement for people on disability that they would not be getting a $250 payment because congress had voted against it. many people were hoping to get this money to pay bills. i was letting them know it wouldnt be coming. people can look up themselves to see who voted for it and who voted against it and draw their own conclusions. that P doesnt belong up there; if you insist on leaving that P on there for my post then delete the whole thread.

I think he was talking about me. Social Security is all about government.

echoes, you may not have meant this thread to be political, but other members posted to it politically, and so the P icon had to be added. Those are our guidelines

Discussing government and politics in a general way is not the problem...it is when specific parties or politicians are singled out by name that things usually start to deteriorate, and why we have this guideline.

thanks

Personally, I am okay with NOT receiving the $250. And probably because I received a nice COLA in 2009. However, I CAN understand why people are upset. But speaking strictly for myself, National Security and our Troops come first and foremost. For without it all else is moot.
