Default holidays -- need advice - mass..glass of wine?

ok...so xmas is in 2 days -- can I have a glass of wine?

Any ideas on how to get thru an hour long mass (earplugs I'm sure).

And..what are the best earplugs??

I had a glass of wine during a recent flight and immediately experienced a migraine-like headache. So, I would recommend that you enjoy a non-alcoholic cocktail instead.

As for mass, I'd say that you should try to sit towards the back. Earplugs also sound like a good idea.

The best ear plugs from my experience are the yellow ones that are cylindrical shaped. They are tougher to insert but they work better. the trick is to twist them, then insert them until you can barely grab them. They will swell back to original shape and work great.

The orange bell shaped ear plugs do not work nearly as well. Also, avoid any with strings. The strings conduct sound to the ear.

Some can handle a bit of alcohol. Others can not. Definitely no more than a glass per meal and best with the meal.

If you start to feel overwhelmed or over-stimulated, quietly walk out to a quiet area. That is why sitting in the rear is a good idea.

Merry Christmas to all.

I am very fond of my ear plugs. I greatly recommend the foam ones that Mark mentions -- they also come in a beige color. Having used them in a prior profession, I was very familiar with their proper use. You need to practice getting them in properly. It will probably take a few tries

As for mass, I have successfully implemented the following strategies: keep your eyes fixed on a stationary object, sit in the back, stand/kneel first (so you don't have to watch others motion). The biggest hurdle for me was all the movement. I would definitely avoid a candlelight mass.

Enjoy the holidays.

thank you -- I have earplugs and I will use those. We're also gooing early to get a good seat and hopefully not near the speakers either. My husband has been so good about all this thank god.

I like the idea of the stationary obect...didn't think to do that.

We're going to a local restaurant for dinner afterwards...just hope it all isn't too much.
