Default They replaced my DVD Player

With a completely different model. It's a COBY 224. I had never hooked up one of those so I read the manual and put the red white and yellow things into the things on the front of my tv. Then I took the other end and there is where I had a problem.

There were too many places to choose to put in the red, yellow and white things.

So I looked at the manual, followed the graphics and put it where it was supposed to be. I did red into red, white into white, but the yellow end, well, in the manual it went to the right. So I did all the connections the way it indicated and IT DID NOT WORK. Got audio, but no picture.

So I unplugged everything, went to my local Blockbuster and announced to two young men. "I hope you guys can help me, I want to join Blockbuster and I got this new DVD player but I think I might be wrong in my connections"

What do you think they did? The guy took my DVD player and as my attention was on the other guy, the guy with the dvd player unplugged all my connections and replugged them and announced to me "you had the red in the yellow" And I said "Do you think I can't tell red from yellow, of course I had the red into red and the white into white, and he goes "no you didn't" He lied.

I then left and went to my computer guy who said "This is wrong, and he re-plugged everything exactly as I did previously"

I then went home, hooked it up AND IT WORKED!!!

I was so happy to put in my Avatar dvd and it popped up just fine. I'll watch it at a later date but oh my, I now have a dvd player. I know, it's late in life to be able to learn to use these things, but at least I am trying.

And shame on those Blockbuster guys for goofing on me. How would they like it if this was done on their own mother?

I'm laughing as you described watching Avatar on the BIG screen. The tv in the living room is 21 inches. NOT BIG AT ALL. In fact, my computer monitor appears larger. But I don't care.

I now have a dvd player.

And Saturday, the guy from Verizon COMES YET AGAIN to my home to find out why my modem (3rd one by the way), well the dsl light keeps blinking, I lose the internet for one minute, then it goes solid again.

They have been to my house 2 times, they never showed up for the 3rd appointment, telling me they changed my port (whatever that is). Now my problem has escalated (their words) and they are sending a special someone to determine why this keeps happening. I have changed phone wires, ethernet cables, moved the computer from one room to another, NOTHING CHANGED.

I have NEVER had a problem with the phone lines since I'm living here and my telephone connection is just fine, no problem there at all.

It's the dsl light and when we had the blizzard last week, a lot of outages were reported. I really don't care, I don't go on the internet that much. I just come here and go to my sprout message boards.

But my husband. oh my god, he would be lost without this computer.

And I'm just learning about Blu Ray stuff.

I feel like I'm 90. And the young ones??? Oh my goodness, they put me to shame. They know stuff I never heard of.

I feel like my ancestors.

lol

Okay, got a question. I bought a dvd from the lady that walks around and sells dvds for five bucks. Won't play on my dvd player, won't play on my portable dvd player, BUT IT PLAYED ON MY FRIEND'S DVD PLAYER.

How come?

thanks, Melody

does it play on your computer?
Is there any scratches or finger prints on it?
Is it a legal copy? Or does it look like somebody made it themselves on a computer? professional label or not?

Hi.

Over here, there are MANY people who walk around carrying dvds and selling them for $5.00. Probably bootleg. I'm never doing this again.

If it is a movie that is still in the theaters, it is a bootleg.
