Question trouble counting change

does anyone else have trouble counting out money? I made a purchase and it was 5.56. I put down a 5 dollar bill and didn't have quarters so I had to figure it out on my own. I tried my best and told her I was in a bad accident and had a head injury and was that enough money. She was very nice and said I needed another nickle. No big deal but this happens all the time. Anyone else have this problem?

I know what you mean, I found that I could add change up but I had to re learn how to subtract.

I was asked during testing to subtract numbers and I drew a blank. I could not figure out how to do that much less what the number would be. I still can't subtract in my head a year and a half later! I can do one digit adding in my head, but need to write down anything else so that I have a visual of it.

I have practiced on Brain age, but I just get too frustrated, so I leave it to the calculator and eliminate the stress.

It is amazing how we take for granted the tiny tasks that we do everyday and how they can become a huge challenge with a brain injury!

Just take it easy on yourself, and good for you for being upfront and honest with the person. I let my pride get in the way and I think that it caused a lot of unnecessary stress.

Best,
J
