Default itching sensation in legs related to PCS?

Long story short, I got a concussion back in October and after being released to run and workout again in December I relapsed and am now taking the semester off of college.

I have been completely inactive (basically bed rest) for the past few months because the littlest things exacerbate my symptoms. I have found that the three times I did go for a walk, about midway through my walk I get this extremely itchy sensation in my legs and other parts of my body, but mainly my legs.

I am being attentive, but it's pretty bizarre that it would coincidentally occur the three times I have exerted myself. Just wondering if this has any relation to my concussion or PCS..

Thanks,
Kelly

kelly,

When you go for these walks, are you wearing any new clothes?
Or, have you started using a different laundry detergent?

This kind of itching can be caused by contact with irritants such as fabrics or detergent residues. The walk may cause some sweating or at least more open skin pores that allow the irritants to cause trouble.

There are also situations where PCS subjects develop more sensitive sensory systems. Could you be more sensitive to tactile senses?

Itching can also be caused by an increase in peripheral circulation. If it is of a nervous system basis, the nerves that had low levels of circulation become excited when the circulation become increased or improved.

Taking niacin causes extra peripheral circulation to the point of a skin flush, followed by an itching sensation.

I have never read anything that points to PCS as a cause of itching. But, the nervous system is very complex so,,, who knows?

Just my two cents, or maybe just one cent.

My best to you.
