Default Parkinson's and ALS in same family

We just learned that my brother has ALS. Our dad died of ALS in 1972 and I have Parkinson's. My 23andme report says I have a slightly elevated risk for ALS. I'm still reeling with the thought that 3 out of the 6 in our family had/has one or the other disease.

Lindy, thanks so much for your kind words. You're right that being surrounded by love makes all the difference. I experience that daily in my life. Perhaps that's the best I can offer my brother.
