Default When to get NeuroPsych Assessment

MId March was the year anniversary for my accident. We cancelled a trip to Italy because I was feeling so anxious and my head was buzzing from overstimulation about all that was involved in preparing for the trip. Possible effects of jet lag and just being overwhelmed by sensory overload. It didn't feel at all like a potential "vacation" (Plus there were some issues with the situation under which we were going).

After making that decision and cutting back on more activities (I tend to keep trying to get back to "normal" and try to catch up after this year of hell.) things felt more under control again. I just can't seem to get past a certain amount of activity or interaction with people socially...it just wears me out!

I have an appt scheduled with neurologist follow up next Thurs (saw them at 7 month mark) and was wondering if I should press for a neuropsych assessment to help me narrow down the exact issues that I am still having.

A year out, I do feel somewhat better, but still have issues, here are some:

tinnitus

sleep disturbance, difficulty keeping a good sleep pattern without meds

can concentrate and focus fully on the task at hand, but have difficulty if interrupted or handling multiple things (this was super easy pre accident).

memory issues

difficulty making decisions (like asking here what I should do!)

skewed judgement on what I can and cannot do (I started an online business during a week or two of feeling good, but can't believe I actually did that now and it's too overwhelming!!) I keep having to cut back on everything!

Anyway, my worry is that the DR will just say give it more time (like the last several appts) and it will be a waste of a day up and back.

When do you ask for the NPsych testing? Should I just give it another year and see where I am at that point? Any and all opinions, thoughts welcome!

I had one at 6 months and again at 1 year. It was good in that it showed what I need to work on. The neuro-psychologist had lots of suggestions for how to work around my deficits.

I would go ahead and do it especially since you still have so many symptoms.
