DBS was first approved for Parkinsons in 2002 but has been around since 1947. I am glad the people of this town are finally getting the news.

Sorry Greg,
You might be thinking of pallidotomy or thalomotomy . That's been around a long while. It's a procedure that (and I might be wrong here) is no longer performed.

A french neurosurgeon pioneered DBS in 1986 and its popularity has risen worldwide since.

Sorry,big fingers, small buttons and PD do not go well together. I agree 1986 - 87 is what I really ment to type.
