please weigh in - if at some point during your medical search for answers, you took all your history of concussions, and possible diagnosis of brain injury, and someone in their infinite wisdom told you that you have a psychiatric disorder? How did you get the diagnosis you needed, or accepted? from what i can tell there is no conclusive diagnostic testing for either brain injury or psychiatric illness?

A good Neuro-Psych Assessment battery designed for mTBI will be very informative. There are still many biased doctors out there misdiagnosing due to their belief in old ideas of mTBI such as no Loss of Consciousness precludes any long term mTBI symptoms.
Unfortunately, once a diagnosis of psychiatric illness gets entered into the patient's medical record, it becomes a scape-goat for later doctors to rely on. Attempts need to be made to get diagnostic evaluations done by doctors who do not have access to the patient's medical record. It also helps if the patient does not try to self-diagnose. Doctors often will throw a somatoform disorder diagnosis at the cyberchondriacs.
