Question 8 level fusion C-2 to T-3 on April 17 ***(**

Please help me, has anyone heard of having 8 levels done at once? I am frightened and helpless.

How come no one has answered me? Did i say something to offend?

Default Hi Malinda

Oh, I am here for you! Don't be afraid. You are not alone. I will call you tomorrow. I have your number. Write to me on the PM. I know you are scared. I will help you all I can. I am fused C3-7 and I know what you are going through emotionally. do you have support at home? Is there anyone in your house that you can lean on when you feel panicked? It is going to turn out OK. You didn't offend anyone. Sometimes a thread just gets overlooked, and nobody means to do that. We are here, and I sure do care about you. Noone wants to experience this kind of this without support. You have my support, believe me I do understand. That is when I reached out to NT too. Give me your number again on PM. and I will give you a call. Try to sleep good tonight, and don't hesitate to re-post your concerns on the front forum. You can also PM Leesa, who has had spinal issues too. There really are alot of us on NT. Doc smith is around too, to help you with pain issues. I will be back on line tomorrow. You will be in my prayers tonight. ginnie

Well, let's say I haven't heard of it being done on anyone here since I've been on. But looking it up on google, it has been mentioned/discussed there - google: eight level fusion

Default Hello malinda

I am here this morning. I have a dental this afternoon at 1:30. I sure hope you know that NT is here for you. When you look up that information that Was given to you by doc smith, just try not to get too upset by all the termonology. Write down any questions you have from the reading for your doctor. I am thinking about you this morning. ginnie

Default Hi Eva

Keep Malinda in your prayers. I think she has gotten all the opinions she can on this surgery. I am worried for her too. I think from what I understand this is her only chance at having quality of life. I don't think she would go ahead with this this unless it was critical that she do so. I will be in touch with her maybe tomorrow by phone. I am beat today, as I ran around to several doctors, and the dentist. I am praying for you too today Eva, and yes Malinda. Take care Eva, sleep good tonight. ginnie

Hi Malinda

I have heard of one other person, through my neurosurgeon, that has had 7 levels fused, result of car accident. She is doing fine, restrictions and pain of course, but walking and moving! I'm sure you have done a lot is researching, and I'm sure you are scared to death, but trust in your surgeon, have faith and lean on family and friends.

I had a cervical fusion one year ago, C5, C6, C7, and just had a second surgery on my ulnar nerve ( elbow area) 6 days ago. Recovering nicely from both. This forum is awesome for support and information.

Please make sure you have someone to help you for the first few weeks, or longer. Lots of preparation makes recovery easier. Look on some of my old threads for a list of items, put them at arms reach in baskets next to your comfy chair or bed, or wherever you plan to sleep.

I will pray for you also. Try to have a positive attitude, it helps with recovery, and if you don't already, learn to meditate, it helps calm me when pain is bad or nerves get frazzled from recovery.

Take care....
Cathie

Hello, today is the 16Th of April. I go into surgery tomorrow at 5:00AM.

I have met some of the nicest people here and have learned learned a lot.

Maybe I have helped a few too.

I have gone through so much more than I realized. Maybe that is the trick: to not count every ache you have. My Dear Husband and I can think of lots of ways that I could have fractured T-2. I am not so scared as I was. ****I have always jumped up and said "I am ok!"**** And I am.

Tomorrow the first surgery of the day at the hospital I go to will be me.

Good bad or indifferent, I will be forever changed and I know that I will have some part of the old me inside after the surgery. I will be a lot more careful this time that God has given me. I am blessed to be at a hospital that teaches and does research. My surgeon is head of the department. My pain specialist is the greatest and so compassionate. She will not let me suffer any more than necessary, as in growth there has to be a little pain. MY PT is aware of my Fibromyalgia and chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I have low human growth hormone so it will take me longer to recover. But I will recover.

I am sure I will have pain, I know my pulse ox is not the greatest, I know I have some issues and an 8 level fusion will not be the most fun thing I ever did but I will make the most of it. Last time I was in ICU all day after the surgery- But ---

I will survive!

I am a survivor.

I can use a little help from my friends. Let me take you virtually into the operating room to give me even more confidence and with prayers, I will get through this and go on.

Thanks for all your support.
