Question Are there any CASA members

I'm a CASA volunteer from California and just curious as to whether or not there were any others on this board.

Hi Landa

I must confess I didnt know what CASA stood for and so I googled it

congratulations on volunteering for something so very very worthy of everything anyone can give toward it.....protecting and caring for kids

I know I, and I am sure, other forum members. would be very interested to hear more of what you do and who knows...it may even inspire others to become involved

Thumbs Up CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)

Chemar, thanks for giving me the opportunity to shout about CASA.
I'm always ready to jump on my soapbox and promote the program. We are so in need of volunteers and word of mouth seems to be the best way of recruiting them.
When a child has been removed from his home by Child Protection Services, quite often a CASA is assigned to the case. The CASA monitors everything that is related to the child, foster care, medical care, CPS...We have access to everything. We then report to the court on what we believe to in the best interest of the child, returned to parents, adopted, foster care etc. We are advocates to only the child. When a child has a CASA they don't fall through the cracks and that to me is so rewarding.

Thumbs Up Yes

I was a CASA volunteer in SC for five years. I was honored to be able to serve, but it can be heartbreaking as well as very rewarding. Huge hugs to you for helping to make a positive change in the life of a child most in need. Carose
