Default OT distraction

I'm sitting here checking out a new series on TNT called Saving Grace, which has helped to solidify my opinion that Holly Hunter is one of the funniest, most brilliant comedic actors - what a sense of humor, and many means she has at her fingertips for expressing it.

So here are a few mindless questions , be honest. ..

1.your favorite comedic actresses? actors?

2.do you have a favorite decade of oldies? do you listen to them frequently?

3. What are you hearing or listening to as you type this?

4. Four favorite movies [doesn't have to be the top 4]

5. Are you reading a book now? if so and wish to, please name it.

paula
To all brains, "at ease."
ha ha

1. Holly Hunter; Sandra Bullock

Hugh Grant; Dave Chapelle (guilty fun - he's hilarious)

2. 60s, 70s - rock, pop - very frequently

3. Heat Wave - it's on a TV show

4. The Departed, Everything is Illuminated, Boondock Saints, Both Miss Congenialities

5. While I Was Gone, by Sue Miller

1.your favorite comedic actresses? actors?
Jayne Meadows, Gilda Radner, Steve Martin, Robin Williams

2.do you have a favorite decade of oldies? do you listen to them frequently?
Hard to choose between the 70s and 80s, though some say Mozart wasn't really jivin' till he reached greater maturity. What? Oh, the 1770s and 1780s.
Then there's the 20s through 60s, of the 20th century, when Mother Maybelle Carter was performing a lot. Hard to believe she's been gone nearly 30 years, but I still love all the old-time country and gospel music.
Frequently? No, but more than other kinds of music.

3. What are you hearing or listening to as you type this?
Nothing. Silence so quiet I can hear my nervous system's high-pitched hum. Peace.

4. Four favorite movies [doesn't have to be the top 4]
Midnight Cowboy, Everything is Illuminated (thank you for the recommendation, Paula), Easy Rider, Lord of the Rings

5. Are you reading a book now? if so and wish to, please name it.
Beyond Words: 15 Ways of Doing Prayer, by Kristen Johnson Ingram (this is more fun than it sounds like at first).

Guy who plays Carlos in Desperate housewives (wonderful comic timing)

John Cleese (particularly Monty Python and Faulty Towers stuff).

Steve Martin (when he was still funny, eg. Man with two brains, House sitter, Roxanne, Father of the bride)

Peter Sellers (again early stuff when he was still funny like Lady Killers, first two Pink Panther fims, Dr Strangelove etc).

2.

Late sixties stuff like Crosbie, Stills, Nash and Young (particularly Judy Blue Eyes).
My ipod has all my favourite stuff on, would listen all day if i could.

3.

Sound of computer humming lol

4.

English Patient
Blade Runner
Deliverance
Dr Zhivago (not sure of spelling lol)

All films I could watch again and again.

5.

Something by Bill Bryson

Enjoyed that Paula, thankyou.

My last day at work today so needed a distraction.

Default May we just talk about the term, "Mindless questions," instead?

No? Oh okay.

Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan together are magic. The very thought of them together create a smile on my face.

1950's, 1960's, early 1970's music in the light rock, easy listening categories, along with the gospel music of the same time periods are my favorites, I suppose. It is difficult to say, however. I like Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, the Beach Boys, The Lettermen, The BeeGees, The Righteous Brothers, Simon and Garfunkel, etc., but I seldom listened to them in the past, and I rarely listen to hem now. However, if I were to sing karaoke, I am sure that I would choose a song from that era to sing. I was sitting in silence until I started trying to answer these "mindless questions," but now I am listening to myself sing Mona Lisa

http://www.braincrumbs.org/checkerboard/monalisa.html

I have actually seen way too many movies to choose 4 favorites, but for sure two of them are Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail, both starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.

Now I'm listening to mysdelf sing Dream.

http://www.braincrumbs.org/checkerboard/dream2.html

I am not currently reading any books. I am ashamed to admit it, but I still have not read more than a dozen or so books in my lifetime. I don't know why, except that I was dyslexic as a child and young adult. Reading was very difficult for me.

Noww I'm listening to myself sing Smile.

http://www.braincrumbs.org/checkerboard/smile2mix.html

Thanks, Paula, for allowing me to be mindless for a while.

What nice responses. Michael, you have found so many creative ways to spend your time in "retirement". 'Mindless' may be the wrong word to describe these questions. 'Relaxed' might be more what I was thinking.

Jaye, your response was entertaining itself. It's about time you popped in. Tena, the Lucille Ball picture is perfect for this forum. You find all the right 'ingredients' in that picture.

Chris...saved you for last...did you say last day of work? ever? You are starting a new phase in life; I wish you many pleasant days of relaxing and doing some things you always wished you had time for. Is the name of your book, "A Short History of Everything?"

I love my IPOD.
