Default Drumming Up a Protest in a Harlem Park

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...oryId=14124206

this was sort of interesting

i bet the realors dont show the property on saturday

f you happen to be in Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem on a Saturday late afternoon or evening during the summer, you can drop in on the neighborhood's African drumming circle.

Longtime residents and African drumming enthusiasts have held an informal, hours-long, drum circle there for more than 30 years.

But new residents of the rapidly gentrifying neighborhood are not as keen on the pulsating rhythmic sessions that sometimes last more than four hours— and are complaining, loudly.

Gentrifying - that word always cracks me up. People move to the area because they are enticed by the culture, but the first thing they want to do is rid the area of it's culture.

If I grew up in that area, I doubt that noise from the drumming would bother me. I think I'd rather listen to that than train whistles and police/fire/ambulance sirens all night long.

Thumbs up If you got the money, you are allowed to do whatever you want.

I agree with Sid Miller.

We are in America - its a capitalistic system - and noise pollution is not allowed.

The drummer should move into a vacuum to avoid annoying the hell out of the rest of us.
