Can't quit chocolate? Don't fret, it's no addiction
Michael Kahn Reuters Wednesday, September 12, 2007 YORK - Resistance is futile. The more we try to fight off a craving for chocolate, the more our desire for it grows, a British researcher said on Tuesday. But chocoholics can take heart that such sweets are not addictive despite the fact many people consider themselves as having no control over their urges to eat the sweets, said Peter Rogers, a psychologist at the University of Bristol. are being reported that say 6 grams of dark chocolate has enough antioxidants to help lower blood pressure.
Besides chocolate has magnesium in it...that is good for you too! I am not a huge chocolate eater like my husband is, but I have found a very nice one-- Hershey's special dark Truffles. They are very good. I am also fond of the new M & M's dark ones. I find a few are satisfying and I eat less of them. And there is a new ice cream---Dove with dark chocolate and cherries. I guess if one wants to cash in on the health bennies (in addition to the fun) the new darker ones are best. I prefer those anyway.

That article reads like opinion, not hard science. I think chocolate is addictive. Again, it's the anticipation of reward, which I DO get, when I eat it that makes me want more. It's the basal ganglia at work again telling me to eat more because my expectation of reward actually changes my brain chemistry. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
