Default Montel Williams to do show on RSD

According to Keith at RSDhope.org, the montel williams show is putting together a show on RSD- I was confused because I remembered a while back we wrote to Montel- Keith informed they have a new producer now- (seems the old one dropped the ball) So it may be a good idea to tell them your stories- Also I think if anyone knows children with RSD who would be willing to tell their stories that would be really helpful.

Default Montel is just a shill for BigPharma now

Have you seen those commercials on TV? He goes around the country in a big bus, bringing 'hope and help' for those who can't afford prescription meds?

The trouble with that? Everyone ELSE pays for the 'free' meds they're giving away.

They're not free. They're subsidized by everyone who does pay for them.

Bah humbug on Montel. And especially bah humbug on Big Pharma, of course.

Hello, NTLegend,

I disagree with the apparent tone of your post:

I'm not a Pharma fan; their very public campaign providing free meds to people who can't afford them has little to do with helping poor people and a lot to do with pre-empting discussion ot the exorbitant profits they make at the expense of everyone: They point at the bus and tells us they have a heart.

Montel is in business to make money, and in his business he needs people to like him, so appearing on these commercials help convince his audience he has a heart and hopefully adds to his audience base. And he gets paid for doing the commercials.

The problem isn't "everyone else pays for the free meds they're giving away", but that everyone is paying too much for those meds. The cost of this campaign wouldn't add much to the price of the drugs or take much from their profits, but it does help some people survive, and I'm uncomfortable with even the suggestion that helping someone survive might be wrong.

I won't veer too far into politics, but I will say that the voters can elect politicians who at least talk about taxing corporations at the same rate as individuals. As someone who believes the government should help its citizens survive disease and disability, the additional revenue from fair taxes on corporations would help more people than Pharma is doing.

We may agree: Bah humbug on Montel. And especially bah humbug on Big Pharma, but I suspect our reasons for saying it differ.

Pharma may have a less generous motive than helping people, but some people are helped...Vic

Default Hi there,

I think it's good that he is doing the show on RSD. I do hope someone off of the forum gets on there but I would venture to guess that they have already picked who they want on there. I think Montel is the one of the most money hungry talkshow host on tv.

He is in with that Silvia Brown to rip people off. I had a friend that paid 875. to pay her to tell him he would live another 15 years and he was dead from the cancer within a year of talking to her. I think it should be illegal to rip people off like those two are doing.

As far as the med thing, it doesn't matter who is paying for it and maybe some people are getting help from that program, I haven't ran up on any but I have ran up on people who tried to get help from him and couldn't due to a 1.00 or 2 too much income so no I have no love for that man at all.

I don't know who might be subsidizing the meds but I would like to see some of the people who are actually getting help from that program. Maybe some of you on here do and can tell about it.

Ada

Hi there,
I think that it is good that Montel is doing a show all about RSD. It is about time that people understand what RSD is, instead of doctors saying that we are making it up.
I am 12 years old and I would love to be on the show, but the problem is that I live in England so I wont be able to travel to America.
Vicc - I think that you are right in what you are saying - you should not have to pay money to help others get their medication
Good luck with everything
Pain free hugs
Alison

I think it is a good idea that Montel wants to do this because it will make people more aware of what people like us go through and maybe there will be a little more funding for research for us. Kind of like when you see people standing outside stores collecting money for kids with cancer or disabled veterans.
