Default medication side effects

HELP!

As some of you know...I am allergic to almost everything! I have problems with medications and I was recently given cymbalta and Zanaflex. I just couldn't take the pain anymore! It was to get me by until my surgery.

Problem...the medicine works but...I started getting an itchy rash...kinda weird cause it's only on my neck on the left side only. It's red and itches! I thought it was from something I've been eating. I decided to not take any Zanaflex yesterday and then took one last night. I woke up with my left side burning and itching in the middle of the night. My neck is all red.

Also, my scalp is peeling! It's gross! I scratched my head and it looked like it was snowing. Is this a side effect from the meds?

I am in so much pain today and I really need the meds cause they help. I can't win!

ACK! After I posted my message I discovered this rash all over me! I am itching like crazy and I also started having an asthma attack! I was coughing the last few days but since I was also having trouble swallowing which happens often...I thought it was related. I called the Doc...I have to stop the Zanaflex! She said I must be allergic to that as well. PEACHY! I was told to take advil until I see her again on Friday. I took some...it did NOTHING! PAIN PAIN PAIN...all I have is PAIN! I can't stand it. I hope I make it til the 14th. This is awful. I have no idea what I'm going to do for pain meds after the surgery either...since I'm allergic to everything.

Life is wonderful! NOT! I hate this...I hate it so much...it has destroyed my life...sorry had to vent. My husband is mad ...nobody gets it....I can't do ANYTHING!

call and see if you can take benadryl. it should help with the allergic reaction.

calamine lotion or an oatmeal bath is soothing.

(((((((((Momz))))))))

emergency room.... you don't want any breathing issues to get worse and maybe they can IV something into you for the pain.

praying for you!

Call your doc and ask:

can I take Benadryl

What about Ambien - the sleep aid has helped me with both sleep and pain

What about the other muscle relaxers - a different blend?

I do get rashes, take Benadryl, take a month break and then try it again - carefully of course - and sometimes, it is just that my body was either sick fo it, had other allergans going and the med was the topper, or, I mistakenly got some sun with the med which wasn't a good mix.

I don't like Cymbalta - it did nothing good for me, made me gain weight.

I take Zanaflex twice per day, but cannot take any other muscle relaxers as they cause me an allergy flare up.

Allergies are very difficult, but they DO have lots of meds for us. In the past, I've taken low doses of oxy contin, methadone, and in the hospital I had fentanyl which worked very well.

I hope you have a pain mgt. specialist, to handle all of this.

God bless you.

i hope you're feeling better today.
hopefully you will be able to find some meds that agree with you that you can take after your surgery as well to get you through until surgery.
are you allergic/sensitive to over the counter alternative products like vitamins, homeopathics...? do you have a TENS or any non-meds that help the pain? once your reaction settles it may be a good time to explore some alternatives.

Mom this does not sound good with each dose you keep sensitizing your immune system further... I worry about you saying that you had an "asthma" attack and problems with swalllowing that one of these time that you do not go inot a full blown anaphylaxis episode!
