Default Roger Clemens

My husband and I (along with a zillion other people) have been following the Roger Clemens saga. We both also like "Forensic Files" and that type of thing, so it's all dovetailing here.

I try to avoid the subject around my husband. He doesn't much like Roger. I keep pointing out (because I'm stupid and I have to) that just because you don't like somebody doesn't mean he's guilty of anything.

I always have to play the devil's advocate, and I drive Bob crazy by arguing both sides. Well? Isn't that the fair way to do it?

Either a talented, successful man is so arrogant that he thinks he can outwit science and justice; or another man is so greedy or warped that he is willing to fabricate "evidence" to bring an athlete down.

Forensice scientists are smart enough to prove which is true, I believe. Gone are the days when you could just smear animal blood on a coat of many colors and convince someone that death had occurred.

Just my two cents.

MHO is that noone can pitch for that many years and pitch that well unassisted. Seriously, it's been well over 20 years now. The average pitcher's career is just a few years. It's just not realistic. I wouldn't expect him to do anything but lie at this point - he's trying to make sure that he gets into the hall of fame and secure his place in history. An admission would definitely knock him out of that club.

What I can't figure out is why congress is in the middle of this? This is a baseball issue, not an issue of national importance. (Although, I do love baseball!)

Greta, It seems to me that it became a congressional issue when high school
athletes began using steroids with very negative results(I might be wrong,
I have brain issues)

That still seems rather odd to me. HS students use lots of drugs, but we don't see Congress calling in hollywood or MTV druggies and/or alcoholics and holding hearings...

They check race cars after each win to make sure they were legal, not the big of a deal to pull out the pee cup after every game. They want to say they are running an honest game? prove it!

Senators and congressmen show up anywhere there is a photo op or sound bite, for some more interest a free pub than they can get on their own.

I don`t follow pro sports closely any more, the deal I believe was the clear, undetectable steroids, with millions on the line for a breakout season, or string of them, some fishy stuff can go on. Dude bulked up quick.

I've never been a big Roger Clemens fan ever since he refused to sign a kid's baseball outside Fenway one day...said his autograph was worth too much money! Arrogant SOB as far as I am concerned...and that was before he was someone...he was just an up and coming bullpen wanna be at that time.

But I agree, I have a hard time believing anything he says. He has too much to lose by telling the truth. It'll catch up with him.

Hey, Pete Rose was ostracized.... so should others who abuse baseball or any other sport regardless of how they do it.

I don't believe Roger Clemmons. I told my DH that RC has shifty eyes. He told me that he didn't know I had hung my shingle out. (smarty pants)

Did you hear that now they are claiming Mrs Clemens took some too? For the photo they did together in SI?
