Default OT: General Health question...

I've noticed that since I first started hurting, I've been sick more and more frequently. NOW its another respiratory infection or sinus infection. More coughing, etc etc. I had something similar like 3 weeks ago. Has anyone else noticed that they get colds, etc. more and more often?

When you are stressed, you are more prone to infection. I think it has something to do with cortisol? I just read about this somewhere...

do you take any vitamins or supplements?
{if so make sure nothing interacts with any of your meds}

But at the very least maybe a good multiple vitamin, stress B complex, Vit C, Cal /Mag blend, some RSDers suggest Grape Seed Extract & I recomend MSM.

I really swear by the EmerGenC stuff we take it as soon as we start getting the scratchy throat & sneezes.
1000mg of Vit plus other stuff in a packet - pour it into a glass of water and it fizzes to dissolve then drink.

I find that having little kids brings a lot of extra germs into the house.

I also find that i am the healthiest around here because i am very diligent about taking my multivitamins and at the first sign of something i start popping 1000mg of vit C twice a day.

sorry you are getting hit with so much...the cold season this year has been brutal for everyone- not just you.

Hey Dabbo,

I have noticed that I too get sick more easily, bronchitis Dec and January and now strep in March

The strep followed a trip to Vegas...next time I am wearing gloves for those slot machines

Sweet Dabbo,

When I went to the last ER, we had to wait 18 hours for a bed, and there were about 200 people in the ER, we were told this year is the worst for flu that the nurses have seen in many years. Crazy, huh? But I think I believe them.

Did you get a flu & pneumonia shot?

And what Johanna says about kids is so true - does your little one have a play group or go to preschool or Sunday school? They are like walking Petri dishes...at least mine were.

Lastly, and of most importance, you have been working so hard in school and work to try to get your life back that I think you have been totally stressing yourself out. And then, the fields that you're in are such HIGH stress jobs, also. So I think it's a combo of one and four here...maybe three also. Just all guessing, but you're burning your candle at a pretty fast rate.

I know I've said this, but nothing is worth your health. I know you have a child to support and a wonderful wife, too. This is all way too hard - every time I read a post I just wish I could take a magic wand and "poof" your TOS away. Isn't it weird that everyone we meet who has TOS doesn't deserve it??? It shocks me. I do not understand. I want everyone well and robust.

So anyways, I am going to bed and going to pray for you right now. Let me know if your cold feels better on Sunday, since I'm praying so hard...hahaha.

Love, Tam

Not me. I have had less 'bugs' since TOS, maybe because I don't go much of anywhere and shake fewer hands?

Or else I get a bug and don't notice it because im aching all the time anyway?

Tam- thank you so much... My daughter does go to preschool one day a week, and I'm sure she's exposed us to ALOT! Regarding the job...I know the stress doesn't help. but i'm a blockhead, and I'm also not sure what else I would do (kinda scary since i'm all of 27!). So, we'll see. I hope I'm shaking off this cold finally. It seems to come and go every 3-4 days or so. Bleech.
Oh- I don't "do" flu shots. I've always been wary of them, but they might be a good idea going forward, since I do have a "cute walking petri dish."

Hi All,

Not coughs and colds so much but was diagnosed with severe sinus a few years ago. After 5 packs of antibiotics no change. My Dr now seems to think my face pain is another TOS symptom. I agree, I have face pain everyday but the levels vary sometimes its just a 2 or 3 and sometimes its a 8 or 9 and time for me to lay down.

Hope everyone else is well. Its pretty hot down under right now, time to put the air conditioner on.

Keep well.

Ozzy
