Now that it's over and I see that no one made any reference to it, I am going to...

Did you know the official name of February 29? Bissextile day.

There are other sites with other explanations of the origin of the word, but this one is the most concise.

February 29, I was maid of honor in a wedding. They picked that day for many reasons, one being it was a Friday so they didn't have to take much time off work (she's a florist). We all had a great time and were amazed at the lack of numerous weddings on that day.

One of the leaders at my 8 year old daughter's after school rec. program was born on Feb. 29th. She goes to a local college full time, and works at my daughter's school part time.

My daughter just made her a "Happy 5th Birthday" card.
