Unhappy So Fun...Another Injection

Tomorrow I get to have another epidural injection….so fun!!

The doc is trying to see what nerves affect what pain. He is injecting at the L4-L5 level, remember I have six lumbar...He is still trying to figure out what kind of surgery he will do and how far he needs to go. I hope that it will go as easy as the last one. It has been two weeks since the last one…

Today I was hoping to just do absolutely nothing cause I could. However, I got a phone call that made us have to go to Salt Lake. So after our errand we went to supper with Craig’s folks. It was a very bad day because when I have to travel that far…2 hours down and 2 back…on the freeway and though much road construction I have to be at my best…so I have finally been able to take care of me and my pain.

My back is so special...it even puzzle my doc. I was so blessed with a back that makes life interesting and most of all has made so many things possible even in pain.

I will hopefully update after the procedure….hugs to you all!!!

(((Tammy))) Sorry you weren't able to take it easy today. Hope everything is okay with your Fam.

Yeah, I know what road construction you mean -- around Farmington, right?

Good luck on the injection tomorrow. Hope you get some good sleep tonight.

Twink my dear

Yes, family is still family...however, that is a whole nother thread...

Construction starts at Plain City and goes past Farmington...just past LaGoon.

Hey, are you two still plaining on going to Jackson with Common Ground? We will be driving our van again...might even go up to West Yellowstone and stay a few more days...who knows...we will live like Gypsy’s...

Hi Tamiloo,

I had 3 epidurals in my lumbar. Each one helped a little. Not enough though.

At the time they said you can only have 3 a year.

Then they did this procedure in OR to identify the worse disc. I was somewhat sedated, put on an IV antibiotic, and they would put a cc or 2 of saline into discs to see which caused pain. MRIs were good, but still pain.

You can't feel a thing until they get the right disc. When they do the whole room will know and you can feel the nerve pain going down your leg.

Then they know that is where they need to do surgery, for sure.

Good luck!

Two weeks ago I feel that it did help with the pain I feel in my sacrum area but not at all with my leg pain. I do remember one of the injections hurting down my left leg...he is as you say trying to see where and what kind of surgery I have two herniated disc up higher and of course the L4 vertabrae is unstable...this will be surgery #5 for me...need to put a zipper in my back...

Tamiloo, I wish you well with the procedure, and I hope you get you relief at last.

I can not understand however, why they have to put you through this pain in order to find the causative nerve. Doesn't the disc that's causing all the pain show up on MRI?

It's just not fair that should have to go through all this!

Tamiloo - I can relate to what you're experiencing - even if only by association. My DH had epidural treatments for his back problems several times a year. They helped some but never gave him permanent relief from the back pain.

I hope yours give you the relief you're looking for. I know you don't want to go through back surgery again if you can avoid it.

Sending healing thoughts your way......

Tami - I hope and pray that all will go well for you tomorrow/today. I hope this will be the last one and that they can finally figure it all out, get it resolved, and you will be pain free. Hang in there!

Tami - good luck! I've had a lot of shots too, but C spines and lumbars are so different, the way they are treated. I hope the shot helps, and they figure your problem out.

And you might want to search my old threads about flector patches too. I'm telling you, those things gave me more relief than any med I've tried.
