Smile Yes.. I'm reliving my childhood again!

The best time of my life (besides my kids being born) was when I was a young kid. I was born in 1975.. so I found a list of things that remind me of the 70s *lol* and this is stuff I really did/liked back then! Well, didn't have donnie/marie dolls. I would ask the magic 8 ball about New Kids on the Block. And, I'm mixed.. so I couldn't have dorothy hamill hair.. darnit!

YOU WERE A LITTLE GIRL IN THE 70's IF:

1. ...you wore that rainbow shirt that was
half-sleeves, and the rainbow went up one sleeve,
across your chest, and down the other.

2. ...you made baby chocolate cakes in your Easy Bake
Oven. You washed them down with snow cones from your
Snoopy Snow Cone Machine.

3. ...you had that Fisher Price Doctor's Kit with a
stethoscope that actually worked. After training with
these tools you became an expert at the game
"Operation".

4. ...you owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a
basket. In the early 80's you moved onto the ever
popular 10 speed. Gosh that seat hurt.

5. ...you ever owned roller skates with metal wheels.

6. ...you thought Gopher from Love Boat was cute.
(Admit it!)

7. ...you had nightmares after watching Fantasy
Island.

8. ...you had rubber boots for rainy/snowy days. Your
shoes actually fit inside the boots (with a little
help from your Mom and some plastic bags).

9. ...you had either a "bowl cut" or a "pixie"
(not to mention the "Dorothy Hamill") because your mom
was sick of braiding your hair. How traumatic when
people thought you were a boy.

10. ...your Holly Hobby sleeping bag was your most
prized possession.
11. ...you wore a poncho, gauchos, and knickers.

12. ...you begged Santa for the electronic game,
Simon.

13. ...you had the Donnie and Marie dolls with those
pink and purple shredded outfits.

14. ...you spent hours out back on your metal swing
set with the trapeze.

15. ...you had homemade ribbon barrettes in every
imaginable color.

16. ...you kept losing your mittens so your mom bought
you the kind that were attached by a string.

17. ...your Hello Kitty pencil case was cuter than
anyone else's.

18. ...you wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really
bad; you wore that Little House on the
Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high
neck in at least one school picture; and you despised
Nellie Olson!

19. ...you wanted your first kiss to be at the roller
rink.

20. ...your hairstyle was described as having "wings,"
and you kept it pretty with the comb you kept in your
back pocket.

21. ...you know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well
as her friends, Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie.

22. ...you carried a Muppets lunch box to school.

23. ...you and your girlfriends would fight over which
of the Dukes of Hazard was your boyfriend.

24. ...every now and then "Its A Hard Knock Life" from
the movie "Annie" will pop into your brain and you
can't stop singing it the whole day.

25. ...YOU had Star Wars action figures, too.

26. ...you thought unicorns were real.

27. ...it was a big event in your household each year
when the "Wizard of Oz" would come on TV. Break out
the popcorn and sleeping bags!

28. ...you ever asked your Magic 8-Ball the question:
"Who will I marry, Shawn Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or
Rick Springfield?"

29. ...you completely wore-out your Grease, Saturday
Night Fever, and Fame soundtrack albums.

30. ...you tried to do lots of arts and crafts things,
like yarn & popsicle stick God's Eyes or those weird
potholders made on a plastic loom. Not to mention
lanyards!

31. ...you made Shrinky-dinks!

32. ...you used to tape record songs off the radio by
holding your portable tape recorder up to the speaker.
33. ...you couldn't wait to get the free animal poster
that came when you ordered books from the Weekly
Reader book club.

34. ...you learned everything you needed to know about
girl issues from Judy Blume books. (Are you there God?
It's me, Margaret.)

35. ...you thought Olivia Newton John's song,
"Physical" was about aerobics.

36. ...you wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes,
or shoelaces with heart or rainbow designs.

37. ...you had Colorforms

38. ...you wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer.

39. ...you had a Big Wheel with a brake on the side,
and a Sit-N-Spin.

40. ...you had subscriptions to Dynamite and Tiger Beat!

*sigh* The days before bills and responsibility, gosh I miss those days..
Monique

Ps- the song "Physical" wasn't about exercising??? She had the headband on though..

Thanks for the memories! I was born late 60's. I never had the Donny & Marie dolls but I sure wore out their record album along with Shawn Cassidy's on my little green record player!

OMG!!! LMAO!! There wasn't a SINGLE THING on that list that didn't apply to me! I SOOO wanted to be a Solid Gold Dancer!! And my Mom still uses those frickin' pot holders! Remember how the Lite-Brite had thpose pieces of black construction paper with the patterns on it? I just remember when we ran out of those I'd just randomly try to come up with cool designs........they stunk. I lost interest and retired the Lite-Brite to the attic next to my Weeble Haunted House!

I couldn't dance then and I sure in heck can't dance now! But.. I did enjoy my shrinky dinks and thought I would be the next big chef with my easy bake oven, I bet it's still in my closet at my parents' house. And.. I used to use all those teen magazines for my New Kids on the Block and 90210 posters

My DD was born in 1970 and she DID have the Donny and Marie dolls, with microphone and all. I still have them here at my house, in a playroom I made up for DD's Children. So they're still in use, along with many Barbies and the McDonalds, play restaurant..

We had most of the other stuff too, and don't forget the Hula Hoop..and watching Welcome Back Cotter on TV.. The 70s clothes..DD looks at pics and can't believe I dressed her like that...ROFL!

I was your age, but lived the 70s too...LOL! Oh, and DD didn't have Dorothy Hamel hair, she had Farah Fawcett hair!!

I can relate to everything you listed Monique!!! I was born in 1960 so I was a teenager during the 70's.

I had the Farrah Fawcett hair and everything!!

One thing I remember was that we didn't have cell phones, pagers, Internet or voicemail back then either - or at least we didn't at my house. How on earth did we survive without knowing where everyone was every minute of the day and being able to contact them on a whim!!
