Default Spinal Fusion

Hey Strangers - I just got a new MRI and new Neurosurgeon who is going to perform a spinal fusion (L5-S1) at the end of June.....

I was looking at the MRI I had completed in 2005 and compared it to my new one....I now have facet joint arthritis and white spots at the end of my tailbone as well.

I have been having trouble getting around so hopefully this will help with some of the pain. If I send someone a picture (mri) can you help me understand it? I appreciate it.

Take care - KDS

Hi there KDS. I don't think we've met before but I have MS and my husband has severe back pain.

Hubby's back is rather a mess now with multiple protruding discs, a degenerative crumbling arthric spine and the crumbly bits have encroached onto several of his lumbar nerves, causing much pain.

He saw a neuro about 4 weeks ago about his back pain, and after reviewing hubby's latest CT and MRI, the neuro told him he needs a spinal fusion and soon. He has now referred him onto a Spinal Specialist, but we have to wait until October for the appoinmtnet to come around.

So far I've received some wonderful feedback and excellent advice from this site, and if you're interested I thought I'd share what advice I've so far been given..

Here's the link to the thread I started: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread45284.html

Godd luck KDS. I hope your pain eases oon!

Hi.. you could send me the photo if you want it posted:

Before I'd post it, I'd blur or pixelate any ID'ing personal info. about you and possibly need to resize it or shrink it some.

I'm not very adept at interpreting films, yet others here are.

(PM me if you want some help uploading.)

Another option is to post the section of the report based on your films entitled: "Findings" and/or "Impressions."
