Default An Idea

Ok..I have had Neurontin..Hit the wall with it..Tried Ultram...To expensive...Not great results....Tramadol..Same thing but cheaper......MY Nuero in Boston put me on 10 Mg's of oxycodone...This worked.....

Well My pcp is trying like heck to put me on something non narcotic.....Thats good...If it works....The 7.5 mg he has me on right now does not work...I am rationed 2 per day....I ALWAYS asked for something long lasting..I tell him this 4 hour stuff lasts little over 3 hours then we do the x 2 math into 24 hours....

Now I am in constant chronic severe pain....All I want is relief...Addiction at this point bothers me not...I am a big boy and take my meds as directed.....

I also take generic ativan....This in the fall and winter used used by me little...But with the heat my anxiety level sky rockets.......

I feel like I am always fighting for what I know I need.....It is to the point where I said I quit...I'm so $%^$ sick of this side of stuff....

Any suggestions to this dumb kid whom is wondering?

If this is not clear I will rewrite..Thanks
Pete

I know where you are coming from.....I too experience pain everyday.

My feet and legs are the main problems. I have sought and tried everything
for my feet. I saw docs for three years and finally found one that would
see me thru. After three and one half years of trying I was finally put
on a drug cocktail. It has really improved my quality of life. Any ?s
you can pm me.

I hope you find a doc that can help you.

Pete - I am sorry that you are in such pain. I don't have any advice to offer as the Neurontin has been my best med buddy ever (with the exception of any spinal lesions acting up. Then nothing helps). But I do have a big and gentle for you and hope that you can come up with something for the pain.

I know that, excuse the MS cog fog, someone just posted that they found a med that worked for them. I'll look for the thread and post the link.

Here it is: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread48971.html

BTW- what kind of pain are you in? That makes a difference on what kind of med would work.

My mom found relief from neuro pain with a combo of trileptal and lyrica. Have you checked out Snoopy's thread? She's had pain relief from trileptal as well when nothing else worked.

Ironic, I had a dr at a pain clinic with the same name as you.

He treated me very well, btw.

Anyhoo, I feel for you, I have chronic pain too and it stinks.

Tried all the ad's, andti seizures, anti inflamatories, even arthitis meds (before the FDA pulled them off the market).

Elavil helped some of the pain, lyrica worked for a while, some meds didn't touch it, some threw me for a loop.

Nobody wants to do narcotics for me.

Mt current pain doc has me on flector patches and Arthotech pills, plus zanaflex at night and methocarbamol for day (muscle relaxers) and the neuro RXs topamax for the migraines.

I still have a lot of pain, but that controls the head and neck pretty well.

I take a some vitamins/supplements that ease nerve pain, and a good stiff drink helps with the back spasms.

Sounds like your PCP is trying, glad to hear that. But do consider a pain clinic. A good one is worth it's weight in gold.

I am glad my name sake treated you well..

I did The Arnold Pain Clinic in Boston...It was just that for me...PAIN....They did all those injections with fancy names....Did not help....

In the beginning the Pain Doc said he did not want to turn me into a pincushion....It was turning out that way, minus the relief....So I pulled the plug.....

Maybe I'm off base but I DO not like to ration medication that may help me...Lets says 60 perks should last a month.....Well I still fall often trying to live....So I fall and my pain becomes greater...I take 3 pills that day...I am already behind......I have not had a good day in..a year or so....So me taking less to balance that scale is rare...

Its really not fair.....
One time I told the Dr.....get rid of my pain.....If you can't I lived long enough without meds...I now want meds because I can not take it...Simple...

@ work I sweet talked the nurses to give me the Motrin 800's..I ate them like candy....It did little but wreck my stomach....

Nuero in Beth Israel said my pain was killing me slowly and should be dealt with...

I lost my point..Sorry...

My pain is from...A work related injury.....I was hurt severely in the line of duty...And it is also? No one really knows....This gulf has each Dr wanting the other Dr to handle me...My pain

I too have the pain that nothing seems to work for, went thru the same thing recently with my doctor over my sleeping pills...it was like well they are addictive....my response....and your point would be? It is frustrating when the docs just don't get it...and trust me as a nurse I have been on both sides of this issue, since I'm now the one in pain! Oddly my doc prescribed oxycodone for ever for me...but it doesn't work, last time I jokingly threatened to move on to Heroin (I would never do this) but have you tried methadone or even marijuana?
