Default Steroids?

This is my 3rd dose of steroids since August last year. The first two I had people come out for five days straight and poke at my little veins.Well this time she tried something new an IV push of steroids and then she put me on this medicine to dose down Dexamethasone. I have never heard of this medicine.Needless to say day 6 and really bad case of thrush and overactive bladder. Is it normal while taking this medicine to be in the bathroom a billion times a day? Well had to vent calling doctor later to see if I can get something for thrush.

Dexamethasone is oral Decadron. Thrush is a side effect is nasty stuff. The treatment medication is nasty too! I've had it once from a 5-day IVSM.

It's basically a nasty oral yeast infection. The drug I took was Fluconazole.

Good luck with the treatment and why did your doc do the Decadron?

She wanted to try something different. I told her I didn't want IV steroids because of my veins. I was having really bad flare up of optic neuritus unable to drive. Plus my legs are literally like standing on hot coals.Needless to say I hope I get over this thrush soon I tell you my mouth feels horrible.Hugs and hope you have a great day.

Something I learned from all the IV steroids I've had. I have them mix it with D5W instead of saline...it's a little kinder on your veins!

The thrush is worse than the IVSM in my book! I hope you get over it soon! It's pretty nasty stuff. Did they give you a rinse for you mouth?

I don't remember exactly what I had, but it helped. Ask the pharmacist.
