Arrow Using Therapeutic-Grade Essential Oils in Emotional Healing

Using Therapeutic-Grade Essential Oils in Emotional Healing

By Deirdre DeVane

Many people are not aware of the healing power of therapeutic-grade essential oils. 100 to 10,000 times more concentrated and more powerful than the solid form of a plant, an essential oil is the life blood of a fragrant plant that gives the plant the ability to grow, ward off infection, reproduce, regenerate cells, and sustain life.

The science of using essential oils to heal – aromatherapy – has little to do with air freshening, inhaling a fragrant aroma, or releasing fragrant aroma into the air, but is more about using various application methods such as topical application, inhaling, or ingestion to induce physical and mental healing with little or no negative side effects. One area of aromatherapy that has produced positive results is the use of essential oils in emotional healing and clearing emotional patterns.

To understand how essential oils assist in emotional healing, it is necessary to understand more about emotional memory. Emotional energy is taken into the body through energy centers (chakras) and then dispersed throughout the body along energy channels (meridians).

This energy is stored in organs or glands that have the same vibrational frequency as the emotion. (It is interesting to note that when the body resonates below a certain frequency, disease sets in.)

The memory of the emotional trauma is stored in the limbic lobe of the brain, and then the mind creates a belief about the emotional trauma and attaches it to the memory. The response to the emotional trauma gets stored in cellular memory throughout the body and becomes automatic. Moreover, these emotional responses become encoded within the DNA of cells passed on through subsequent generations. This is why many emotional patterns run in families. In addition, transplant recipients have often reported strange memories or desires after receiving organs from other people.
Essential oils are effective in emotional healing for several reasons. First, emotional memories are stored in the limbic lobe of the brain. The limbic lobe is the emotional control center from which all emotions emanate. As confirmed by a New York University study, only the sense of smell can access and trigger this portion of the brain. When essential oil molecules reach the human nose, within milliseconds, the molecules travel up to the nasal passage into the emotional control center.
