Default What's Wrong with the PD community? [Part 3]

Here's an interesting blog. Found it in google where we were #1 and #2 on the topic.

http://www.well.com/conf/pre.vue/top...er-page01.html

Doc John we are still ready to conference call [at least some are] and hopefully everyone knows what they want to work on. Healthy disagreement welcome - squabbling and petty nonsense not.
Sounds like we should find our own teams.

There are a lot of doubting Thomases and politics going on and to overcome these they must be left behind. IMHO

"Only the paranoid survive", says Andy Grove [cofounder of Intel and person with PD.]

thanks.

Default Foundation-led Drug Discovery

Virtual biotechs target and develop translational research.

from the new scientist article found in FasterCures newsletter:

"The challenge we face is to facilitate and expedite the sharing of research tools and results among academic and industrial HD investigators while protecting publication rights and the ownership of intellectual property. Our support to academic researchers is structured similarly to that provided to our corporate partners: through contracts. Investigators provide periodic progress reports that may be shared, in confidence, with other scientists; deliverables include access to any reagents and non-exclusive licenses to any intellectual property (such as assay system protocols) developed under a contract. To encourage research related to HD, all such reagents are quality controlled and made publicly accessible via a centralized repository "(http://ccr.coriell.org/Sections/Coll.../CHDI/?SsId=45).

Default absolutely

I am definitely still interested - in making a video and in doing research here at Neuro talk through data collection. Grant r, if you are still interested in doing a good video, starting fresh with ideas, can you let me know so we can get started with a concept? Anyone can make videos; there doesn't have to be just one for us all. There has been no response from Todd, so at this point there is no indication that neurotalk is going to be included in his plan. If this is not correct, someone needs to respond. Questions and suggestions about the continuation of this project have not received response. I have been in touch with Carey and lindy lanka, bandido1, and others are waiting in the wings .

If we are going to do it, don't you think the time is now? Holidays are right around the corner.

what do you think?

paula, i had an idea about posting some polls. easy just check off the box type. it would keep the research answers in one place. also a way to find out who is interested in what.

maybe even a sub forum for just the polls?

i know about the monkey in the middle book...is there a monkey brain one too?

Curious,

Actually it was the monkey brain that they were focused on...lol. I think polls are perfect for getting quick opinions. Do you happen to know if Doc John is available now for a conference call?

thank you!

The idea is first to recruit him as an advocate then induce him to participate in either a rerun of "In Search of a Champion" (see sticky) or possibly even sponsoring a new and hopefully award winning video. His net worth is about 8 billion so I don't think it's a financial decision! I would think the data mining project could be pursued simultaneously with some statistical data included in a video. Those of you who are familiar with the PatientsLikeMe forum should recognize the potential of solid data. As for polling, I always favor that approach--assists in recruiting help and cooperation. Where is the rest of the "team"?
