Default 6 and 1/2 hours of doctors appointments later........

Well, my appointment was at 12. I am just now getting home. had a little incident. My super woman powers wore off half way to the doctors office and super woman I am refused to take anyone with me. I get half way there and the pressure in my head hits me so hard that I had to call for someone to come get me.

The doctor has seen a dramatic decline in my gait and he realizes how badly the pain is effecting me. He decided to put me on zoloft to take the edge off with the stress and then I had to go to the hospital to start the IV steroids which I have to do for 5 days followed by 6 days of oral steroids.

Waiting to get my prescriptions filled between appointments the pressure hurt so bad that I threw up twice, that was fun. Fortunately I made it to the bathroom in time both times. I think it was a delayed reaction to the LP mixed with the insane amount of stress from the last few weeks. LP results were abnormal and he is waiting on the final tests which he will get some time next week.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention the lady doing my IV attempted to put it in my hand figuring she would work her way up as the week progressed since I refuse to walk around with this thing strapped to my arm all week. Great idea until she blew the vein.

It has been an eventful day to say the least, but the pizza is ont eh way and the steroids made the pressure in my head subside a little so it is at least bearable.

oh, and my doctor flat out told me the best treatment for my symptoms was MM but he cannot prescribe it in the state of VA and because it is against the law he is legally not allowed to tell me I should try it. So as my doctor he has to say no, but as a person who can see how my sx are effecting me he says it's worth a shot.

I thought you were on the comp too much last night , but I didn't want to nag you any more than I had already.

Sorry to hear the headache caught up with you. It's time to do lots of laying around, and if it doesn't let up within about 3 days, you might have to go get the blood patch.

REST!!!!

Cherie

ahhhh, Legzz...

I've had days and weeks like that.

unfortunately, stress exacerbates MS symptoms, but try telling LIFE to just take a break...

anyway, all I can say is, with your brains and sense of humor, you WILL get through this, with panache and grace.

hang in there, we're all rooting for you...

the diagnosis-time is arduous and exhausting, and I pray that things will settle down and stabilize soon for you.

oh yeah we filled out the paperwork for the rebif while I was there he is saying no to the LDN for now because he wants to make sure he doesn't have to put me on anything for the pain if the steroids don't work and the LDN may block the pain meds. But he is not oppsed to the idea in the future if I am still interested. For now he likes rebif. he has seen better results than with copaxone but if I start having the negative effects he will switch me to C.

pizza tastes like rubber. I never knew an IV could leave a bad taste in your mouth.

IVSM? Oh heck yeah. Even the migraine medication I had left a HORRENDOUS taste in my mouth. Dreadful. Beyond words.
While the headache I had (following spinal) was enough to cause me to black out, the fear of the taste of the medication from the IV contributed to my panic

Horrible taste. eccchhhh I hate 'em but they sure do work. The lying around thing after an LP is right. I had mine the "week" of testing too and had to go the other tests despite knowing I should lying down. I tried at all the offices to tell them I needed a bed or bench while I was waiting and most of them where good with it. The nuclear med waiting room only after I blew chow, but then they took me seriously. Still all in all an awful experience good that it's done for in a quicker time. Take care of yourself and good luck with the bif.

Gatorade. Gatorade helps. It tastes sort of like the IVSM anyway, so it's a great choice.

Cherie's right--REST!!

Hang in there. IVSM sucks too but it's better than what you're going through otherwise.
