Default SSI question

ok folks time to pick your brains I want opinions and any examples are welcomed, I applied back in feb of 07 my hearing is this month... whoopiie doo

I have to pay back my disability pension if I win and I will win less 3o percent thanks to lawyers, and yet I am to make up the 30 % for my pension plus I will have to wait for 5 months to get health insurance

and I will not have life insurance through my work any more...

ok should I just blow off the meeting so it gets tossed out and I still get my disability pension same amount as sssi will pay each month plus i still have health and life insurance

I told binder and binder to drop this case a year and then some ago, because i knew this problem would arise in the end they refused to do so, blow off meeting sure seems like the best answer for me I just need some input from yall

thanks

Okay, hope my 15 years making disabilty determinations will help you answer your questions.

Most disability pensions require you to file for disability. If you don't show up to your hearing you will be denied for failure to cooperate. That may affect your disability pension. You might want to call them and find out. If you are denied, thay may tell you that you need to file an appeal. You need to read the fine print of your disability pension.

I think a notarized statement from you to Binder and Binder will get you out of them representing you. Again, go back and read what you signed up with them.

Hope this helps.

My LTD policy from my employer required that I apply for SSDI at the time my LTD was approved. If I had not done that then the LTD would not have been paid.

that was my worry too my disability pension can deny me, I have already been denied by SSI 3 or 4 times lost track, it makes no sense to me so i get the shaft either way. talk about bs, so my family can kiss off on being insured that seems so very unfair and unjust, life insurance is outrageous, wish I never even applied, but then I wouldnt get my pension, now on my pension I an make X amount a year, I have a friend who will say I am employed, will calling and saying i cant make the meeting I am employed? will this work better, i did what pension asked I am also within the pension guidelines for working, I am grabbing at straws I am afraid but to get the SSI now will be the worse thing for me and my family

I answered you on the Insights so will just add to it. One thing to remember is that your disability pension can re-evaluate you at any time and say your able to work at some job. My mom is going through that now. It is what they do. You do have to show up for the hearing to avoid losing the pension. Now, why are you applying to SSI instead of SSDI which is the disability insurance SS has? Just curious.

don't lie! it may come back to bite you.

i'm not an expert but my feeling is you should go to the hearing.
pensions can disappear. and, if you get ssdi you can apply for medicare based on disability.

i can't help on the life insurance. but, if you're over 50 you might consider AARP.

and that binder thing sounds shady to me. can you prove you asked them to stop? you might need a lawyer.

i applied for both the one for immediate assistance when I stopped being able to work back in jan of 07 and the other is permanant, Sandy I am still waiting for union [president to confirm what you mentioned on other thread that they share the award that rang a bell when I read it, so if thats the actual case, my ins will be covered by the union pension and the monetary part will come via SSI, so if all goes smooth the repaying part will be hardest, union presidenta is gonna see what the procedure is, thanks folks talk about a double edge sword

thanks Judy, I figure if it gets too over whelming I will just speak my worries and concerns to the arbitrator or judge or whatever they are called

I agree with Judy.....why risk everything by lying? Besides, if you just tell the truth you don't have to remember what you said!

Lying = BAD KARMA!!!

I don't remember what I said, and it's the truth.

I'm not possitively sure of this, but I think your Ins co makes up the diff, so you don't lose anything. I think I remember my Bro telling me that when he was forced onto gov't disability.
