Default My 15 minutes of fame!

I was just on stage in front of hundreds of people!

We went to see Sharkbait (on the cruise ship), two wild and crazy guys who juggle. They used to perform with Ringings Bros Barnum and Bailey Circus for 8.5 years. They needed someone from the audience to help them. One lady turned them down. DH and I had moved a few seats over b/c the guy behind us couldn't quit sneezing. So, there we were about 7 rows up and 5 seats over, and somehow this cute performer dude asks if I (who ME?) want to help him on stage.

And so I did! The first thing I did was to stand perfectly still (with MS on a rocking ship) while they tossed batons in front and behind me. The deal was, was that I couldn't blink or close my eyes or they'd start all over!

Then I was told to go ahead and leave, that I was through. BUT the other performer dude with the short mohawk hair-do said to come back! And so I was up there for another 5-6 minutes tossing batons while they caught them. I didn't do so good at first, cuz the things are heavier on the one end.

At first I was told to throw underhand. Then for next trick I threw overhand. The last trick I was supposed to aim directly for, well -- you know -- and the idea was that he was supposed to catch it between his legs. It was waaaay too high the first time. The second toss he should have caught it, but dropped the thing. Third time was the charm!

So on the way back to my seat, the cute performer dude asked for a kiss on the cheek. And so I aimed for his cheek, but he tricked me and turned his head and we did a quick lip-lock. Afterward I reminded DH that the last man who kissed me wasn't him, but he hasn't "fixed" it yet.

So, anyone else get their 15 minutes of fame yet?

I very fondly remember our cruise we took in 1976. We wanted one last big vacation before starting a family. I can't remember all the stops, all I know is San waun (sp?) Peurtorico, Nassau and St. Thomas. We had a wonderful time. But I didn't have any moments of fame. My DH did participate in the golfinf off the end of the ship and the skeet shoot off the end. Yes, I know there is a name for the end of the deck but I don't know it!

We took the cruise spring of 1976 and our daughter was born 4/77 so we got it done just in time! Oh, we got the cruise done just in time!

That sounds like fun! DGlad it was you and not me, cuz I can't throw for nothing.

I did get to do some tricks with a parrot one time though, at the kids' summer eading thing. A guy had a Blue& Gold Maccaw and had him land on my arm to snag a dollar and bring it back to him. Sure every body loves a pretty bird, but they were all too afraid to get that close to it. Lol..

That does sound like fun!

I prefer avoiding the limelight. I would've chickened out.

I was interviewed on a local news station in 1992 in Miami. A friend of mine actually recorded it. I looked like, um, trash. Really. To this day, I try to hide from cameras. I'm not very successful.

I feel so honored to know you now that you are famous. LOL

Sounds like you are having a great time and I can totally see you up there doing that.

When are you coming home, vagabond? I can't remember what you told me.

When I was younger (much) my then boyfriend was in a band and Liza Minellie asked them to play at her party for the others of cast of Chicago. After the party a very drunk Liza almost threw up on my shoes in the elevator. And you know how drunks always sing in the elevator. That same boyfriend was in a Coke commercial for a split second.

Cheeta Rivera (West Side Story) and Sammy Davis Jr. were there too. No, they didn't talk to me.
