But I noticed that I have a bump INSIDE my lower eyelid. All it feels like is an eyelash caught in there (that's how I found it). No swelling, no infection (from what I can tell). Completely painless.
I've had styes before and just did the hot compress thing. Should I take Cherie's advice and DONT SQUEEZE!!! No worries about that, I wouldn't be poking around on the inside of my eyelid anyways! But if not a stye, what could it be, and can it go away on it's own without doctor intervention? I'm hoping so.... I've seen enough doctors. Figures, I return to work and now I have growths in my eyelids.

I'm pretty sure that it's a chalazion. It's very small and you can't see it as a lump under the skin, so I'll do the at home remedy of hot compresses

I copied this from Wikipedia because I'd never heard of a chalazion:
A chalazion pronounced /kəˈleɪziən/ (plural chalazia /kəˈleɪziə/), also known as a meibomian gland lipogranuloma, is a cyst in the eyelid that is caused by inflammation of a blocked meibomian gland, usually on the upper eyelid. Chalazions differ from styes (hordeolums) in that they are usually painless apart from the tenderness caused when they swell up, and in size (chalazia tend to be larger than styes). A chalazion may eventually disappear on its own after a few months, though more often than not, some treatment is necessary. I'm glad that at least it doesn't hurt!

I'm thankful too. I did the hot compress thing, and I'll do another before bedtime.
I'd never heard of the term either! We just always referred to eye bumps as styes... but then I looked at the stye pictures and thought "mine doesn't look like that, hrm!".

Hey Laura! AYUP, sounds like a chalazion to me, too. My DD had 2 of them when she was very young. (1yr old and 3 yrs old). We did hot compresses, but she ended up having them both (at different times) surgically removed by an Opthalmologist. I really think that you should get it checked right away, as I remember the Dr saying that sometimes you can avert surgery w/hot compresses and medication. This was 30 yrs ago, so suppose medication may help. Good luck and let us know....
Oh, and the surgery was simple, no scarring as they went into the lower eyelid. But, I'm sure you caught yours in time. Keep up the hot packs, but get thyself to an eye spec. hugs~~

I've had two chalazions in the past year, in the same eye. Doc gave me eye drops. Cleared it right up. He told me if the drops don't work, he would have to turn my eyelid inside out and remove it....EWWWWWW..
DM and the others are right....see the Doc..
