Heart Reborn babies

Have any of you heard of reborning dolls? I could not believe how real they seem. I have collected Ashton Drake dolls for a while now and some of them
breathe, their chest moves up and down and in some there is a heart beat.
The reborns are a lot more expensive than the Ashton Drake dolls. I kind of stimbledupon these babies a few months ago. I went through every reborn site I could find. These reborns sell from two or three hundred to one thousand. I want to reborn but it takes $$$ to get started with ordering all your supplies. I have a head and a body so far. Don't think that it is a money making venture, but is only a love of the art.
Truly a believer, Doodle bug7

I saw this story. These babies are truly lifelike. They interviewed a woman who has a couple of these dolls and she takes care of them just like they were her own live babies. Even going so far as to buying car seats, strollers and clothes for them! Strangers think the baby is real until closer inspection and they're shocked to find it's not. I don't know if they are more shocked at the lifelike form of it or that this woman is out pushing a doll in a stroller!

Collections are one thing. Treating a doll like a real baby to the extent of buying a car seat and clothes and taking it for walks is a bit much.

Yes, Doodle bug 7, I think she has issues. But, if this helps her come to grips with them then it's fairly harmless.....unless she starts to actually believe they are real.

Kitty:
I was watching BBCA on my cable the other day and they had a special on woman who ADOPT babies (dolls).

LIFELIKE BABY DOLLS.

They got the layette, the strollers, the whole room of baby furniture. This documentary featured a mother and a daughter and the mom wanted to be a grandmother, so they paid THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to this person (they showed her warehouse where she makes the baby dolls). She uses real hair for the head and for the eyelashes. You can't tell the difference.

And then she walks up to the house with this BIG BOX.

When they put the big box on the bed, they carefully opened it up, took out all the wrappings and there was this perfect baby doll that looked so real, well it gave me goosebumps.

Then they got the car seat and prepared to go shopping.

I just looked on youtube and here's a little video on these dolls.

THEY LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE REAL THING.

Also up on youtube, there was another video with this woman who collects these reborns.

I could not believe what I was watching. There she was (she's childless by the way), she was holding the reborn and some lady walked up and was going ooh and aah and touching the face and all of a sudden the lady goes "oh she's cold" and the "mom", says "she's a doll".

Well, the look on the other lady's face was priceless.

This woman loves to go out in public, holding this baby and make everyone believe that it's a real baby.

She was interviewed and even the interviewer was not comfortable about this.

I don't understand this. The woman obviously wants to be a mother but she explained that it's too expensive and she's happy the way things are.

If I hadn't seen this with my own eyes, I would never have believed this.

Mel
