Default Internet Article about Me, and I Posted a Video...

An old friend of mine has published a short Internet article about my experiences fighting multiple sclerosis. I thought some here might find it interesting.

Also, I put up a YouTube video showing what it's like to take a power wheelchair trip through the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It's kind of funny, and it's getting some good response. I hope you get a kick out of it...

Here's the article:

And here's the video:

Thanks, Marc, great article, Jon did a nice job describing your indefatigable good attitude.

The video was a blast, I have two nieces living in upper Manhattan and neither can believe that I have no interest in returning to NYC. LOL, I sent them a link.

Great article, Marc. Very upbeat.

I enjoyed your ride through the Upper West Side of NY. I watched your quick ride through Central Park, as well...Cool.

Thanks so much for sharing.

Where is the Forum you frequent, besides here, of course.

God Speed...

Marc, the video is great! Seeing Manhattan through your eyes was very enlightening. "The human blockade", LOL! So annoying even when you're not in a wheelchair! I laughed out loud at least 3 times but that door at H&H bummed me out. Does that happen frequently with establishment doors here?

On the bagel note, have you tried Murray's? They're closer to me but they'd still be my fave even if H&H was in my 'hood. (I'd like to import Zabars downtown though. )

I look forward to seeing more videos!

Marc,
Loved the video and article. I've laughed and cried this morning, Seeing butts from a chair!!!!! Went to a party, that's all I saw. Took my revenge by telling some friends "And none of them good. I saw a guy with panty line!"

Went in my chair to a mall at Christmas shopping time. YIKES!!!!!

You make me feel a little better, a little.

Your access to NY bagels made me jealous. They stink in MD. (I'm from Jersey. Our bagels and pizza weren't bad. Pizza here stinks too. Nice trees though)

I loved the ride and music - felt like I was there. People are always telling me "slow down" and laughing when I ride my scooter around. I like speed.

Thumbs up

Great article and video. Thanks for sharing!

Once I told my sons I might get a wheelchair for occasional use. They looked at me with such sadness. I assured them that it wasn't a bad thing but would help me to keep going and at a faster pace.

I'm forwarding both of these to them and my husband, my friends and family too. I don't need a wheelchair yet, but if I do, I certainly don't want it to be a negative but just a fantastic tool to keep me moving.

You know, I don't think he was a mime. I did fall out of touch with him there for a while, but he's really not the mime type. I'll have to ask him about that...

I'm glad you liked the video. I'm working on another one now, I think I've found a new hobby...

Unfortunately, I found that most establishments in Manhattan are pretty wheelchair unfriendly. Lots of them have little steps to get into the place, or the doors aren't wide enough, or once in everything is so tight that there is no room to maneuver. Central Park, though, is absolute bliss...

I haven't tried Murray's. I'll have to put that on my to do list...

I'm glad I could brighten your day, even if just a little. This disease is so hard to take, it forces you to live in the moment. Before I got sick, "carpe diem" was a mantra that I tried but found very difficult to follow. Since my diagnosis, it's become not so much a choice but a necessity.

Good grief, they bagels and bad pizza? How do you survive?

I like speed too. Why go slow when you can go fast.

obviously, nobody wants to get a wheelchair. But once you reach the point of needing one, they really are a godsend. Before I got my power wheelchair this summer, I was practically housebound. Even with a terrific wife, and friends and family making visits, it was very isolating. Now, just the knowledge that I can get out if I want to makes things a lot better...

I hope the article and video help your family to understand this. And once you get the chair, you'll be able to go much faster than those mere mortals...
