Default Proof that no good deed goes unpunished in my house...

So I bought the hubby to be a grill for his birthday ( A brilliant idea I put a lot of thought into). I couldn't trick him into swapping cars with me all week so I got up super early this morning and snuck out with his truck....which is of course dead on empty. So I have to stop and get gas...no big deal, I wanted coffee anyway. I make my coffee fill up the truck and i am off to pick up the grill. Somehow I managed to knock my coffee cup out of the cupholder and the lid flies off the cup goes upside down in the floorboard! 24 ounces, I had taken two sips since I got it.

At this point I am mad, and freaking out a little (his truck still has new truck smell, at least it did now it has 7-11 coffee smell). So i head to wally world and buy some carpet cleaner and set off on a mission to find a super vac to suck the coffee out of the carpet. Another great idea when i finally find a vac and then realize I have no cash on me. So now I have to go hit the bank to withdraw $20 so i can go get $3.00 worth of change to vacuum the coffee out of the truck.

I finally make it back home with the grill, and a freshly cleaned coffee smelling truck. We bring the grill in and head out to the range to shoot the new gun. It was great, until the second box of bullets. Winchester decided not to put enough gunpowder in this set so every third shot the shell gets caught in the slide and you have to stop to correct it. Now mind you after the morning I had (which i didn't bother to tell the fiance about), shooting is a great therapy.

We get back home, he puts his grill together only to discover it is missing a piece. The heat shield that stops the LP tank from blowing up... so i have to call the manufacturer and order that.

On the plus side I did make one heck of a dinner for the two of us and my idea of buying the variety cheesecake instead of the birthday cake went over very well.

Next year he is getting socks.

HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!! That's the best I can do with the webtv....no smilies! Thanks for the great laugh which I really needed about now, it was a wonderful stress reliever!!! But I am sorry about your "exciting" morning! Nothing like the smell of 7/11 coffee to get you going! Was it about -30 degrees there too??

I'm sure your dinner made up for everything!!

The grill was a great idea. Just next time get a gift card in the amount of the grill....put a picture of the grill inside a card with the gift card and let him go get it himself!

I can relate. Murphey seems to be a constant house guest for us, so his laws pop up at the strangest times.

Hope that despite everything, he enjoys the grill.

If he only knew how much trouble you went through to bring home that grill. You know the one with the missing piece. Guess that morning was just not meant to be. Glad the rest of the day went better - dinner and dessert.
