Does anybody know if candles have shelf life? I don't mean gel candles or fancies, just old fashioned stick candles, or whatever they're called. Are they good for months? Years? Decades? How can you tell if they're still any good?
Thank you!

That's what I was gonna say!! Light them and if they burn then they still work. If they don't burn....then they don't work! Am I smart or what????

I think that if they are stored correctly, they should work for many years. Candles do not like big fluctuations in temperature. I had some stored with Christmas stuff in the attic that didn't survive the hot / cold shifts up there. I also have candles stored in my credenza that are probably 15 years old that still work just fine I just burned some at Christmas. They are from Partylite and I know that they are from before we ever bought this house 13 years ago.

I'm thinking IF they are scented candles, the scent may not be as strong as it was when they were new.

They should work. I kept a red stick candle for 20 years in my Christmas stuff. Lit it up last year and it lasted longer than today's stick candles. lol
