Default grumble grumble a rash on bella...

Bella got the most bizarre rash today that came out of no where and covered her face, ears, bottom, legs, hands and feet. It looked like a nasty sunburn (severe). And as quick as it came, an hour later it was gone.

Bean used to get histame reactions like that. I don't get it. What is going on with these little systems that they have to react in so many ways to so many things?!

It could have been a niacin flush if it did not last that long. That flush will cover certain parts of the body only, face, neck, elbows, hands, etc. I would check the supplements to see what dose of niacin (nicotinic acid form of niacin) caused that. Did her nose run a little bit too? When I do the flush my nose will run at some point, not in the beginning of the flush but after the flush has started.

It can take only 50 mg. of nicotinic acid to cause a flush in a histadelic (high histamine level person). Histadelics should avoid folic acid and nicotinic acid until they have they have their histamine levels balanced.

When I read your post, I immediately thought about a niacin flush even before I read ortho's response.

I also flush easily... more-so if I take niacin with dinner (where I usually have a relatively high meat intake - which seems to be the 'pushover' factor for me... but I don't know why).

I'm definitely interested in the histamine idea. How would a person get tested for that... and where? Is there a good site for a general starting point?

I had never heard of that before, but it does seem sensible. She had an EmergenC Jr (strawberry), which has 10 mg of niacin Vitamin B3
(Potassium-Magnesium Niacinate) 9 mg 100% (I think that is measured in mg). I dont' know if that did it or not, but I will watch her after trying again. She ate the same lunch yesterday (as a test) and did fine with it, so I don't think it was the food, or the clothing.

That brings it to the vitamin or the bath before lunch?

Not sure what it means, though?
When Bean would get that the doctors said it was not a big deal and she'd grow out of it?
Hers itched at the spot of her mast cell collection. Bella doesn't seem to have a spot that itches, so it didn't bother her. Her cheeks have been flushed the last day or two, though?
Odd....

I don't know anything about this site, but if you start where he begins talking about histamines (scroll down a ways)
http://www.oralchelation.com/faq/answers24.htm
It is pretty interesting

I'm 125lbs and 40 years old and 50mg is enough to flush me when I eat a high meat dinner.

So 10 mg seems a lot for a little kid.

Thanks for the site reference. I'm hoping to get some time on Sunday to read it.

Lightbulb Fifth's disease...

is also a possibility... the flushed cheeks is a diagnostic sign.
