I have PN, but not from diabetes. I am wondering if Tramadol (I use it sometimes with my neurontin for pain) worsens the symptoms. I know it helps with pain, but maybe it does more damage overall than good. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks Tom Chubco Bear

I am currently using tramadol 50mg twice a day. At one point I was using the max dosage 400mg a day and the max dosage of neurontin. Tramadol I found to keep me up and caused me to itch when at a high dose.

I have since read postings here and tried the B12 and wow....I have cut down on my neurontin and tramadol significantly!

I was on 300mg x 2 a day of slow release tramadol for a few years, it really helped me a lot, but couldn't take neurotin at all even at a low dose, we are all differant though.

Hello,

First off I went through ansaids, anti-inflammatories, sulfonamides, and found out I was allergic to aspirin, codeine, and sulfa. Do you break out with rashes? Good luck!

So I stay positive, stress is our worst enemy.

Once years ago for back pain way before I got PN, and I felt jittery, agitated and hyper all night. I never slept that night and I went to an emergency medical clinic the next day and the GP told me to throw the pills in the rubbish. He said too many people have had very unpleasant reactions to Tramadol and I was one of them.

The last time was not this Christmas but the one before. I ended up in casualty that night having very bizarre feelings as the drug was wearing off. Then I had panic attacks for months after and I was hyper and didn't feel like myself anymore.

Tramadol was not good for me before my PN nor after. I have had many different pain meds due to PN, but I am scared silly of Tramadol.

Thanks for the input. I am nervous about being on tramadol for my non-diabetic PN and that is why I asked the question. I was afraid that I was making the symptoms worse by using it. I had heard (not from a Doctor) that it worsened symptoms in some PN sufferers. I had to ask here on this forum because I knew I would get some good experience/examples if they were out there. So far neurontin (generic gabapentin) and tramadol are handling my pain in PN very well. I just have to be consistent with them. Thanks, Bear

I have been taking Tramadol since 1999-2000.
First, coupled with Gabapentin/Neurontin then,
and now (past 2-1/2 yrs) with Lyrica.
It has been the only pain med (& I've tried many)
that keep my PN pain & Sx under control.
