Smile Exelon

At the end of December, my neurologist prescribed Exelon for me, which is used to treat mild dementia in people with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. This was after I told him about my frustrations with getting lost when driving. If traffic was backed up on the expressway and I tried to find an alternative route, I seemed to always turn the wrong way. He said the Parkinson's caused this. It could take 2 or 3 months to see an effect from the prescription.

A couple weeks ago, I suddenly started noticing that the Exelon was making a difference. I was practicing guitar and there were passages that I had tried unsuccessfully to memorize in the past and now I could play them from memory. In the past it had seemed like a had a mental block about learning certain fingering patterns and now the mental block is gone! It is very amazing! I went to the art museum, whose floor plan had always confused me, and when I was ready to leave, I found the exit in record time.

My memory is not 100%, but it is a lot better than it used to be. I am really surprised at how much the Exelon is helping me. At the same time, it is scary knowing that Parkinson's is progressive and the Exelon won't help forever.
