Today I found out that one of my beloved cats might have abdominal Cancer

He has been losing a lot of weight lately and even though he has been eating it just kept dropping. I have an appointment to have an ultrasound done on him tomorrow to see what if anything can be done for him. Needless to say both myself and my wife are heartbroken and grief stricken over this. I know some people may find it odd to cry for a cat but not us. They are essentially our children as we never had any. So I'm hoping if it's not too much to ask if everyone could say a prayer it sure would mean a lot :-)

It's not odd to feel this way for a cat......my cats are family to us. I'll pray for your cat and I truly hope it's not cancer. Please let us know how things go tomorrow at the vet.

Oh ((Quahog)) I'm so sorry. As it happens, I lost my tortie, Sweetie Pie, 2 years ago on Mother's Day to the very same thing. I still can't look at pictures of her. The pain was awful.

I hope the news ends up being NOT what you fear.

It's late and I'm having trouble sleeping (As usual) worrying about my buddy.
I have never had a cat like him before. You know how they say a cat picks its human and not the other way around? Well, he picked me the first day I met him and he's been there everyday ever since. He loves to headbutt me nibble on my chin and then climb up on my shoulders. God, do I love that cat! He even has a special call when he is looking for me. When I answer he comes a running

I just don't know what I'm going to do about all this.

Needless to say I'm an absolute wreck

I can't sleep, either, Quahog. It's not unusual for me....but you can bet if I were going through what you are I wouldn't be able to sleep either. Your cat sounds alot like my Tigger. It's almost like he "picked" me and now, well, he's my baby! I pray that tomorrow (well...today) holds a positive outcome for you. Try to get a little rest.

Aww Quahog! I'm sorry that you and your cat are going through this, but it's not strange, or unusual, or soppy, or nothing to feel like that about a member of your family!

My DH and I had 3 cats who lived with us from birth until 12 -15 adult years. One passed away from cancer and the other two left us due to a complication of old age.... renal failure.

They were well loved, and as much a part of our family as any of our human members. Our cats got all the same benefits as everyone else did, and by that I mean love, diet and the best of medical care, etc.

We'll be thinking of you so please keep us up to date.

I really feel for you and understand.

One of my beloved cats died of thyroid cancer. It spread
before we had the surgery to remove it.

It was highly traumatic for me like you are feeling now.
She was "my" kitty and very loving and gentle. It broke my heart to have her put to sleep. I can still get teary over it in fact.

I think you will just have to cry it out...that is what I did.
I try to remember all the good times we had, and not dwell on the loss and how unfair it was for her to get so sick and suffer.

Hello everyone,

What an awfully long day both myself and the wife are exhausted.

Drove a few hours to the specialty veterinary clinic and met with the doctor.

After several hours of testing Yes, unfortunately it is cancer.
.


A gastric Lymphoma to be exact and it can not be removed because it is located in the stomach

The good news according to the Vet is that cats to respond well to treatment but it is hard to say who will and who won't.

I'm hoping that our cat will respond well to Tx ( I just gave him his first pill) only time will tell

Thank you for the update, and I do hope everything goes well.

I can remember back when one of our cats got hit by a car and had multiple fractures, the vet told us if you put a cat in the same room as it's broken bone, the break will heal without intervention.

I was horrified, and it took me a little while to work out it was just his way of telling us not to worry. I took it to mean that cats are resilient, and they respond well to treatment.

Any fractures any of our cats ever had BTW, were put into casts until they healed.
