Default NoCal Newbie

So I finally got around to registering after visiting here for a long time. I'm not really "Peony," but my real name's already taken here, so to avoid confusion... Anyway, I'm 63, diagnosed for over 2 years, but convinced I've had symptoms for many years, not on meds yet (my decision).

Main symptoms are huge tremor & serious pain (back, shoulder, neck) on right side, plus other changes but still fairly manageable. Strategy so far: keep active, eat right & take supplements, minimize stress (left my job last year, not entirely by choice, but probably for the best), connect with others, & keep a good attitude whenever possible. Reading all your posts has been helpful as I struggle to adjust to my new & very unexpected reality. Best to you all, Peony

Welcome to the forum, Peony! As my friend and fellow forum member SteveM used to say, "Grab an oar and row with the rest of the crew." Although we regret the circumstances that brought you here, we are pleased that you have chosen to join this great group of PWP.
Robert

ps, Steve, are you still out there?

Default Welcome

We're sorry you have Parkinson's - but welcome to the forum!

One of my early symptoms before diagnosis was a frozen shoulder, and I have neuropathic pain. So I can sympathize with pain with Parkinson's.

Take care.

I like "grab a bucket and start bailing, we're all in the same leaky lifeboat!!"

Peony,

Welcome! I'm a relative newbie here too and really love the support.

I think your strategy is wonderful. My reaction sometimes is to isolate; I always fear having break though symptoms and people noticing or commenting. I've come to realize that the proverb "life is too short" takes on a whole new meaning when diagnosed with PD!

Please don't be shy about posting; hope to hear from you often.

Best,

Laura
