Frown Methimazole/tapazole

Can anyone share their experiences while taking methimazole/tapazole? This is the second time I've tried taking it, first time was a few years ago. This time, I've been taking it for two days and been feeling severely dizzy and had terrible anxiety. Last time I took it, I felt like I was high and stopped after a week of anxiety and panic attacks. Has anyone else had a similar experience, if so did the symptoms fade? My doc doesn't want me on PTU.
Thank you.

Thank you.

I assume you are being prescribed Tapazole because of hyperthyroidism...(Graves Disease). If so; thru a regular checkup blood/lab work, my doctor also checked thyroid. My doctor called to let me know; I had Graves Disease and wanted me to see an endocrinologist. She said I had not mentioned any of the symptoms to her. I had been very irritable, anxious and a few other issues but I was attributing it to my have stopped smoking after 25 years.

The Endocrinologist did iodine tests along with a few other tests. He agreed that I was dealing with Graves Disease. I was given Tapazole to take daily. I did not notice anything unusual since I had already been dealing with all this irritability/anxiety, etc. After taking the Tapazole for several months, my symptoms lessened. I was on the Tapazole for 2 yrs. which is longer than usual; but I wanted to avoid any other thyroid treatment.

After the 2 yrs; I went into remission for about 4 or 5 months which the doctor said was unusual. I was still dealing with some anxiety but not as much as I was before taking the Tapazole. My Endo had me have lab work done every 4 or 5 months to make sure I was taking the proper dose and my throid TSH/T4 count was in the normal range.

I eventually went into Hypothyroid and now am taking synthroid daily. Even tho I am Hypothyroid; I still continue seeing my Endocrinologist and have lab work done ever 5 months to keep my TSH/T4 reading in the normal range.

Thyroid disease; especially Hyperthyroid /Graves is most likely causing your anxiety and panic attacks. Are you seeing an Endocrinologist??? The Tapazole should eventually lessen the effects you are dealing but it is usually taken daily.
