Default Tooth extraction left big hole with bone exposed

I'm new to this forum, so Hi everybody!

I had my lower wisdom tooth removed 11 days ago, and everything went fine, just a little bit of pain for about 2 days. After one week I had the stitches removed and this of course left a hole in the gum. Today the hole looks large and deep, but what worries me the most is that looking at the mirror, in the space right above the near tooth, I can see what looks like bone! It is some dark-yellowish surface with many tiny holes on it. There is nothing above it, just exposed bone. This is freaking me out! Is this normal? Shouldn't this be already covered by some tissue by now?

My dentist told me it's fine, to wash the whole with a syringe and wait for some months. I have no pain at all, alright, but I can't help thinking at that bone I'm still worried to get infections / dry socket or else.

Thank you!!
